Hi Friends,
Thanks for all your kind emails and much needed prayers. I have been trying to recover from a terrible case of Sciatica that has left me unable to function. I look forward to getting back into the swing of things in a little while. Thanks for stopping by!
hugs,
Karen

Just for You
I welcome the coming of Spring but looking outside my window today, it is still very much snowy and wintery here, thank goodness the sun is shining. I pulled out my new flower stamp from Penny Black and decided to play along with the Featured Stampers challenge at Splitcoast I stamped and cut out the 'Graceful' flower and coloured using Copics. I cut the banners for the side and then pop dotted the flower onto the sentiment piece.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

A Special Moment
'Enjoy the moment'.....that speaks to me. I think we get so busy in our everyday life that we forget about what is happening right now. One of my favourite techniques to play with is sponging. I made a card similar to this so decided to use that design for this card. I am playing in two challenges today; one is the Inspiration challenge at Splitcoast and the Ombre Challenge in the Moxie Fab World
I masked the side of my card then started with the lightest colour of Distress inks that I have near the bottom of my card and gradually started adding more blues until I finished at the top with the darkest blue I had overlapping them and blending together. I did add a bit of green at the bottom as well. The trees are from Northwoods stamps; they have such a majestic feel to them. The sentiment is from Daisy Bucket. I finished it off by sprinkling water onto the blue and then adding the scoring lines and the twine.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look and hope you have a great weekend..

A Rockin Birthday
Happy Friday!! I haven't done much this week as I am battling a case of sciatica and it has totally zapped my energy. I did manage to make a card for the Free for All challenge today called 'Singing the Blues' and I wanted to play along with the Little Red Wagon Challenge; window.
I began by punching a circle window in my card so I could pop dot the radio from Lawn Fawn inside and stamped my sentiment around the opening.. The bkg behind the radio is stamped with a stamp from WPlus9 that looks like bubble wrap....love it.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Keeping It Masculine
Happy Monday morning! Is it just me or does the weekend go by just too quickly? I had a chance to play along with the Featured Stamper Challenge at Splitcoast yesterday. For my card I used my stamp as a reverse image by stamping the ferns in a row, embossing them with clear and then using my Distress inks, painted in the negative space adding shading to the ferns. Very simple to do and gives another way to use this stamp set. To finish my card, I added scoring lines and then the sentiment with scoring underneath.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Spring Renewal
Today, I am re-making my Christmas card seen here:
into this card for the Spring.
Sometimes it is fun to try and re-think the elements that went into a card to remake it for another season or occasion. Here, I kept the colour palette pretty much the same but changed the tree to the flowers called Polka Dot Sprigs and the sentiment from a Christmas greeting to an all occasion greeting from the Eloquence set. Spring just can't get here fast enough.
My cards are being featured over at the Penny Black blog today where there is also a GIVEAWAY happening. See you soon.

I Need Coffee
Coffee or Tea?? Which is your favourite?? When I saw this little sentiment, I knew I wanted it right away since I am a coffee drinker. So, today I am playing along with the Featured Stamper Challenge at Splitcoast. For those of you that are not familiar with the FS challenge, a stamper from Splitcoast is selected and then you must chose a card from that gallery to case and make-over as your own.
I stamped the coffee cup and sugar cube from Paper Smooches and then paper pieced the cup for total cuteness. I stamped the background from WPlus9 and added the sentiment from Art Impressions.
Another week is about to begin....hope it is a good one!
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

In Case You Missed It.........
Last week over at the Penny Black blog, I had 2 of my cards posted for the Take Flight Twenty Contest using the newly released background stamps that I love. This background called Bed of Roses, has many possibilities as you could use it just as a bkg. or stamp and cut out the roses to use individually. My card shows how to use both those methods.
Here is my other card using the background stamp called Glory of Modesty. I wanted to show how to use this stamp for more then just a background too.
First, I stamped the main panel with Pear Tart Memento ink. After
cleaning my stamp, I applied Versamark and white embossing powder and
heated with my heat tool. I punched a circle out from the white
embossed piece, then using the green ink again and a water pen, I
coloured the leaves in to give a reverse of the flowers on the
background. The fresh feel of the green really makes me want for
Spring!
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
