Good Morning.
Meet my glittery card.
We all need a little glitter for Christmas, helps make the holidays feel magical.
I saw this technique on Splitcoast Stampers called Iced Leather and decided to try it out.
The idea is to give you paper the look of suede.
To begin, take a piece of sandpaper and rough up your piece of cardstock. I used white but you can use coloured as well. Your paper will now have a rough surface.
Next, swipe a Versamark pad over the surface...swipe being the key word. You just want some hard edges mixed with soft to give a suede look and feel.
Next, sprinkle on some shiny, glitter embossing powder and heat set.
My card lacked pizzaz so I rubbed some Peacock Feather Distress Oxide ink on my non-stick mat, sprayed with water and dragged my paper through the wet ink to add some colour but you wouldn't have to do that step especially if you are using coloured cardstock.
Using my Misti, I stamped the sentiment in the corner then die-cut the snowflake and glued it in place. I added the blue gem to the center of the snowflake to finish it all off.
*in hindsight next time I would stamp my sentiment after sanding my paper and before adding the Versamark and the eb powder...it would give a flatter surface to stamp onto.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Wow, wow, wow... gorgeous card! I love that background and thanks for the clear explanation. I'm going to give that a go sometime because it's a fab technique. The snowflake is a perfect add and the gem is just right.

What a great idea Karen, I must give that a try. I love the blue background a bit like a pretty snowy sky, and the die cut snowflake looks beautiful with the blue gem in the centre over the top, and a wonderful sentiment to finish. x
What a neat technique for the background! It looks fabulous - so chilly and frosty. And I love your snowflake die cut.
What a stunning Christmas card, gorgeous colours and design, Kate x
Beautiful! I tried looking up "Iced Leather"--splitcoaststampers showed no results. Could it be under a different name? Peggy.
Love this idea, and I am keen to try it out
