Happy Hello

Welcome
Meet today's card.
Very simple one done using a leftover piece I had stamped from a previous project.
Not big enough for a whole card base, but worked out for this smaller size card.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I found this piece of cardstock in my stash that I had stamped with a plaid background stamp and some Cracked Pistachio Distress ink. I used a part of it for another project, so was left with a smaller piece that wasn't big enough for a card base, so decided to layer over it with a stencil.
  • I got out my Leaf Doily stencil from ACLD and positioned it over the plaid stamping.
  • Using some Forest Moss Distress ink, I started blending into the center area of the doily.  I blended some Mowed Lawn DI more into the outside edges.
  • I liked the look, but the stenciling was sort of lost over the stamping, so I got out a fine line black marker, repositioned the stencil and traced around the inside edges to add detail.  Much Better!
  • I decided to fussy cut it out along the edges of the stencil, then used my black marker to the cut edges.
  • I glued it to a piece of green cardstock, then added it to a 4 1/4" white square note card.

  • I die cut the Hello once onto the green cardstock and then again onto white so I could layer and offset them.
  • I added a green gem to the center of the doily, then glued on the hello.

Here is the stencil I used:

You are definitely not short on ideas and such interesting ways of using up scrap pieces Karen and I love the green tones and the leaf doily stencil with the plaid in the background looks great. I love the way you have partially cut around the edge of the shape which adds even more interest. x
