Paint Strokes

Welcome
Meet today's card.
I'm playing with this newly released stencil from ACLD called Paint Strokes
It's so fun to play with some new toys.
I tried to think of an unique way to use it and this is what I came up with.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by getting out my Waffle Flower Stencil Mat and positioned the Paint Strokes stencil from ACLD over a piece of white cardstock.
  • I got out some Distress Oxide ink colours that I thought would work well together and make for a fun looking card. (Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Crackling Campfire and Prize Ribbon)
  • I used the stencil in a random way, inking areas, overlapping others to give a fun look to the panel.
This is what the piece looked
 like before I cut it.

  • When the ink was dry, I cut the panel into 3/4" inch strips.
  • I cut a 4" x 4" piece of white cardstock and glued the strips onto that, offsetting them to give more interest to the design.  I think it gave a more interesting and fun look to the stenciled background.
  • I splattered with my white and black Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • Next, I die cut the 'celebrate' using some white cardstock 3 times and glued them together.  I splattered with my black Posca pen to help tie the look of the sentiment into the background.
  • I glued the inked piece onto a white card base that was 4 1/4" square, then glued the sentiment into the center of my card front.
  • I added 2 navy gems although they look black in the photo.

Here is the stencil I used:

You are way too clever! I loved your original piece before you cut it up...and would have stopped there. But since you're the artist, you took it up a notch and created a really WOW piece! Great card and super idea! Thanks for sharing your creativity with us.

This is a great stencil used as is, but cutting into strips and offsetting each has made it even better, such a clever idea and I love the colours, and the spattering and lovely gems to finish. x
