Regal Doily

Happy February!

I've heard so many say they are grateful that January is over because where I live with the snow and the ice, that means we are one step closer to getting Spring.

Lots of new releases over at A Colorful Life Designs this month.

This card was created using the newly released:

Regal Doily

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I placed a piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station and centered the Regal Doily stencil over that.  
• I began in the center and inked with some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink. Next, I moved outwards inking with some Ripe Persimmon and then finally with some Fossilized Amber DOX ink along the outside edges.
• I lifted the stencil off and splattered it with my white Posca pen.
• While that dried, I cut out the pre-printed sentiment strip and glued it onto a piece of pink cardstock.
• When the panel was dry, I glued it onto a piece of pink cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card base.
• I used some foam tape to pop the sentiment over the center and added some gems around that.

Meet today's card.  

Time to show you one of the new stencils for the New Year from A Colorful Life Designs called 

Fancy Doily

I love doing stencil layering to create unique and interesting designs so I paired it up with the Jewel Snowflake to see what I could come up with.

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I got out a piece of white cardstock and placed it onto my Make Art Station.  I positioned the Fancy Doily stencil over the cardstock and inked it up with some Broken China Distress Oxide ink.
• Leaving that stencil in place, I put the Jewel Snowflake right over it and then inked it again but this time with some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink.
• I removed both stencils and was left with this lovely design.
• Next, I splattered with my white Posca pen and let dry.
• When it was dry, I placed the stenciled panel into my Misti, stamped the sentiment and then clear heat embossed it.
• I glued the panel onto some white cardstock, then onto a piece of navy and then onto an A2 sized card base.
• Finally, I added 3 silver gems around the sentiment.

I can't believe how quickly time is flying by as the big day gets closer.

I have all my cards mailed out, now I just need to finish a few to hand deliver.  

I have to let you in on a little secret of mine!  Once I start making Christmas cards, I find it hard to stop.  I don't know if it's creating while listening to Christmas music or just all the images that inspire me.

Anyways, here is what I did to create today's card.

• I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and positioned the Lace Doily stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over to the side of my panel.
• Using some Gesso and a palette knife, I spread the paste over the stencil, then set it aside to dry completely.
• When the Gesso was dry, I rubbed on some Broken China, Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky and Blueprint Sketch Distress inks using an inking tool.

• Using a baby wipe, I lifted some of the colour from the Gesso and splattered heavily with water to lift more of the ink.  
• I wanted to give more interest to the background, so using a script from the Faded Text stamp set by Tim Holtz (love!), I randomly stamped in the background with Blueprint Sketch. 
• I die-cut the sentiment from Creative Expressions with some silver paper and then glued that over the panel.
• The panel was dry so I splattered using my white Posca pen.  I just take a ruler and tap the pen over my panel to add droplets of paint.
• To help accentuate the silver, I rubbed some Versamark along the edges of the panel and silver heat embossed it.
• I glued it all together onto a heavy white card base and finally I added some white pearl dots.

Meet today's card.

I just picked up this great image from I Brake for Stamps from the set called The Old and New and wanted to get a chance to play with it. It's such a wonderful, iconic image and I wanted it to shine on my card.

I began by die-cutting some heavy white cardstock using the Wonky Frame die.  I masked the edges to contain the image to the framed area, then placed it into my Misti and stamped.  I added the sentiment....it just seemed to go perfectly with the image.

Next, I looked through all my 'hoarded' backgrounds and found this one.  

I had created it by inking up a piece of heavy white cardstock with some DOX inks, then stenciled over it with some black ink.  It is very dramatic looking and I thought it would work great with this image.
