Let the Music Play

Hello and Good Morning
Today' card features another one of the newly released stencils for March from A Colorful Life Designs called;

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I found some fun cardstock papers in my stash that I had picked up at the Dollar Store awhile ago but hadn't used. I began by picking out the paper I wanted to use for the cover and die cut the little album cover first.
  • I placed the new MUSIC stencil over the cover and inked it up with some Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink. I splattered with my white Posca pen just over the sentiment and set aside to dry.
  • Next, I die cut the record from a piece of black cardstock and glued the blue middle die cut to the center of it. (You can't see it in the photo, but the die actually puts the grooves in the record)
  • I picked out another piece of the cardstock and glued it to a piece of white and then a piece of blue and the onto a white A2 sized card base.
  • I glued the record album cover over the background and slipped the record into the sleeve.

Here is the stencil I used:

Rockin' Birthday

Welcome
Meet today's card.
A really fun and easy one to create.  These two stamp sets work so great together.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a piece of white cardstock cut for my front panel.  I positioned the Dot Circle Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over my panel, then I used my blending brush with some Peacock Feathers and some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks to stencil.  I applied the ink with varying pressure to help give it a feeling of motion as if the record was spinning.
  • I took another piece of cardstock and stamped the record and the turntable arm from the Vinyl Greetings set in my Misti.  I clear heat embossed it to give it a shiny look like an album would have.  I stamped the 'Happy Birthday to You' from that same set onto the center of the record with some red ink.
  • I fussy cut out the record and the arm and set that aside.
  • I placed the stenciled piece into my Misti and stamped the sentiment from the For the Record set along the bottom.
  • I pop dotted the record onto the center of my card, then added the turntable arm.
  • I glued it all onto a piece of blue cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.

Here is the Dot Circle stencil I used.

Best Dad

Welcome
Today's card features a few new-to-me sets of stamps that I picked up.
Since my husband is such a record/music fanatic, I thought these sets would work great for future card making.
For this one, my son asked if I would make a card for Dad for his birthday.  I was happy to crack them open and get to work.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by cutting my main panel from a piece of heavy white cardstock.  I placed that into my Misti and tried to figure out how I wanted to stamp the records from the Vinyl Greetings to create a pattern for the background, leaving enough room for the sentiment.  Once I figured that out, I stamped the records in the background using some Versafine Clair Noir ink.
  • Using another scrap of white cardstock, I stamped another record with the black, clear heat embossed it to make it look shiny and fussy cut it out.  I set that aside.
  • I placed the main panel back into my Misti and using some Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink, I stamped the sentiment from the For the Record set by Honey Bee Stamps.  That set has all kinds of great sentiments that can work for a music lover.
  • I stamped the 'DAD' from that same set with more Memento and then punched it out.
  • I pop dotted the embossed record over the sentiment and then pop dotted the 'DAD' over that.
  • I glued it onto a piece of red cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
