Seashore

Hello and Welcome
Some simple stamping today.
I decided to just leave my card in black and white.
I think going to the beach is on a lot of minds especially when the weather is sunny and warm.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock and placed the Fishing Boats stamp into my Misti and stamped with some black.
  • I cut out the stamped image and glued it onto a piece of black cardstock, then set it aside.
  • Next, I die cut a frame from some white cardstock using a die from Penny Black.
  • I glued the white frame to an A2 card then popped the image inside the frame.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Shoreline

Welcome
Meet today's card.
I've been playing along with some of the challenges over at Splitcoast Stampers.
So much inspirations there and the theme for this challenge was Let it Run.

So here's what I did to create my simple card.
  • I began by pulling out a scrap of mixed media paper to work on.  I figured it would be a good paper to work with as the inks would run a bit better then using my regular white cardstock.
  • I placed a few small drops of some Salty Ocean Distress re-inker on my non-stick craft mat, sprayed with water to dilute it and then using an old gift card, I dabbed some ink just along the center of my cardstock.  I sprayed with a bit of water to help the ink run.
  • I dried the blue, turned my panel around and then repeated that process using some Wilted Violet Distress re-inker in the same way.
  • While that dried, I took a piece of white cardstock and embossed it using a folder from Darice.
  • I placed the dried panel into my Misti to stamp the birds.
  • I glued the embossed white cardstock onto a heavy white card base.
  • I glued the inked panel onto some black cardstock and used some foam tape to mount it over the embossing.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Under the Sea

Hello and Welcome
Today's card is featuring this beautiful stencil called Big Seaweed.
It is part of a series of stencils released this month featuring a beach/ocean theme.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a white cardstock panel and laid the Big Seaweed stencil over my paper.
  • I decided to ink it up using some Brusho, so I sprinkled a few onto a piece of acetate, sprayed with water to activate, then using a baby wipe, I inked over the stencil by dipping the wipe into the wet ink and pressing over the stencil.  The Brushos give such vibrant colours to anything.  Be sure not to use a lot as they go a long way.
  • When the panel was dry, I used a blending brush to add some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink and then I splattered with my black Posca pen.
  • Next, I used a circle die and cut it from the center of the inked panel.
  • I placed the circle into my Misti and stamped the sentiment near the bottom of the circle.
  • I stamped the little fish from a set by Lawn Fawn, die cut them out and coloured them with the left over Brushos on the acetate sheet and a wet paintbrush.
  • I glued the stenciled piece onto a heavy white card base, then pop dotted the circle back into place.
  • I pop dotted the little fish over the sentiment as well.

Fintastic

Welcome
Summer Breeze makes me feel fine.
Playing along with a challenge at Splitcoast inspired by a summertime song.
It gave me a chance to play with some of these stencils from A Colorful Life Designs.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a piece of white cardstock, placed it onto my Waffle Flower Stencil mat and laid the Surf's Up stencil over it.  I inked up the sunshine with some Mustard Seed and a hint of Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink.  I set that aside to dry.
  • Next, I pulled out another piece of cardstock and carefully tore the edge, trying to give it a jagged, wavy looking edge.
  • I laid that piece onto my stencil mat and inked it all over with some Tumbled Glass DOX ink.  I laid the Bubble Release stencil over the inked panel and rubbed on some more Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink with a heavier hand to add the bubbles.
  • I removed the stencil and splattered with my white Posca pen.
  • I stamped the sentiment over the sun and then glued the stenciled sun to a white cardstock base.
  • I added foam tape to the water piece I had stenciled and placed it over the sunshine which helped to pop it up, giving more interest to an otherwise flat card.
  • I stamped the whale, die cut it out and coloured using some grey Copic markers.  I popped that just under the waterline.
  • I glued it all onto a white A2 card base.

Finding a New Direction

Welcome
As summer approaches, we are thinking of the being at the water and going to the beach.
This new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called Surf's Up was fun to play with.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a piece of white cardstock and placed the Surf's Up stencil over it on my Waffle Flower Stencil mat.
  • I masked off along the waterline with some low tack tape and inked up the sun with some Mustard Seed and a hint of Carved Pumpkin DOX ink.
  • I moved the tape that was masking off the water up over the area I just inked and blended some Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and some Blueprint Sketch DOX ink onto the waves.
  • I splattered with some water to lift the ink and give a bit more interest to the waves.
  • I placed the panel into my Misti to stamp the sentiment over to the side.
  • I decided to cut the finished stenciled panel along the waterline.  I glued the top sunshine part onto a piece of white cardstock, then added foam tape to the waves section so it would be popped up giving the card much more interest.
  • Finally, I glued it onto an A2 size card base.
