Favorite Flowers- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
Wow....I've got some fun, inspiration, Guest Designers and amazing prizes coming your way!

This month at
we are celebrating our
1st Year Birthday!!!

You must check out all the great prizes to be won...it's going to be a great month.
The theme is such an easy one,

So onto my card.
One of my most favourite flowers are hollyhocks.  I can't seem to grow them because of all the clay soil in my garden, but I love seeing them in all their beauty and majesty.  A truly old fashioned, elegant looking flower.
I immediately thought of the hollyhock stamp I have by ISC (now sadly the company is closed) and how much I loved to use it for a watercolouring technique.
So I placed the stamp into my Misti, coloured with Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process adding darkers shades of the colours until I was happy with the overall look.  Using the Misti, makes that process very easy to add layers of color.
To do the background, I scribbled some of the marker onto my non-stick craft sheet and picked up the ink with a wet paintbrush.  I always like to wet my paper first before going onto it with the ink filled paintbrush.  When that was all dry, I stamped the sentiment using my Misti again.

Please come and play along with us this month.
The prizes are amazing!

So beautiful Karen, I just LOVE the loose look of your watercolouring - this is such a pretty card, I would love to be able to do this - I must try with my ziggies to see if I can make it work. The colours are stunning - I am a sucker for bright pink. Just beautiful, Lisa x

This is so gorgeous and I love that you used all white layers for your design. That creates a great way to showcase those pretty blooms and wonderful sentiment panel.

I love hollyhocks too Karen and these are perfect given the watercolour straight to stamp technique, and the soft mixture of colours in the background look great. x

I love hollyhocks too, Karen. When I was little, my mother had some in a flower bed. I can't grow them either so I always enjoy seeing them when you use them. These are especially pretty!

I haven't seen hollyhocks growing in a long time. Karen. I remember we used to make dolls out of the flowers. Your watercolor hollyhocks are so pretty.

Gorgeous flowers Karen! I love that water-coloured look with Tombows and water, I always seem to add too much water or not enough so using the Misti is such a good idea! Thanks for sharing!

Oh, Karen, I love hollyhocks, too. My Dad used to grow them in a variety of colours and they were stunning in his garden. Your beautiful watercolouring and soft, almost dreamlike, background makes me think of a warm summer's day with a breeze just barely moving the flowers so that they appear to be dancing. Lovely work. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

Such a pretty card , I have the same problem of clay soil but have managed to grow some hollyhocks in pots though they don't reach the same heights , maybe I'll try a bigger pot next year. Love the soft effect you achieved thanks for sharing.
