For the Birds- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.
It's time for another card for the

Our theme this month is 'bird'.

I am using these great stamps from Frog's Whiskers Ink of the cranes.
I love the silhouettes they create.

So onto my card.
I die-cut a piece of heavy white cardstock using a die from MFT then I inked up the background with Distress Oxide inks and a piece of acetate. I rubbed the ink onto the acetate, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper.
Next, I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the bird silhouettes with black Memento ink.

After I was done inking my bird background with the DOX, there was still quite a bit of ink left on my sheet of acetate that I didn't want to go to waste, so I grabbed an extra piece of cardstock and pressed the ink onto that to create a watery looking piece to mount the birds onto.
In the top corner and on one side you will see where I did a bit of stenciling to add some interest.  I just used a baby wipe and rubbed over the ink already on my paper.  It lifted the ink in some places and deposited it in others and I was left with the impressions.

I hope you will come and play along with us.
Thanks for coming by and taking a look.

Fabulous double-layered background for the silhouette birds. I love the stenciling on the bottom layer of the background, and of course I love all the gorgeous shades of blue!

Gorgeous card Karen. Your background is amazing with the stenciling and lifting technique ... and "depositing the ink somewhere else" ... sounds easy but it takes your amazing talent to showcase this technique. Love the main panel with the three silhouettes. This is such a gorgeous, watery, beachy card. xx

Karen, I absolutely love reading how you create your cards...amazing how you use the Distress Oxide inks and the acetate. I have to try this one day (when I clean off my desk and make it "safe" for working - haha). Truly love the background and especially love it as the scene for these birds! Stunning! Hugs and love! xoxo

Great card and I really like the results you got using the baby wipe. The stenciling added a bit of dimension to the card and gives the look of flight.

Wow!! This card is absolutely gorgeous Karen! Both background panels are stunning (brilliant technique using the acetate) and the Crane silhouettes are the perfect focal point. So pleased you are playing along with our Water Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers. x

Wow...just love the double layering of the background. Fabulous and beautiful colours and love how you used the stencil to take away some colour and leave such interesting and fabulous shapes. Wonderful card, lots to look at, tons to admire and such a unique and amazing card x

A wonderful scene using these beautiful silhouette cranes Karen and the three shades of blue are perfect together, and the addition of the diagonal stitching around the edge is inspired and the colour looks great continued into the background with the stencilling. Fabulous! x

The crane silhouettes look wonderful against the gorgeous background you created! It reminds me of our wildlife refuge down the road. I appreciate learning how you utilized the remaining ink and a stencil to make that interesting background panel too. Beautiful card Karen!
