Happy Birthday Darnell- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.
This blog post is a bit different then usual.  Please read below to find out about this special post.

Special Event
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARNELL!!
Please join us in celebrating Darnell's Birthday!!
https://caswatercolour.blogspot.com/2019/07/cas-watercolour-july-challenge.html

One more part to this special event.
The team has made special cards for Darnell's birthday,
along with our Guest Designer Leslie,
and several Featured Designers (friends from the retreat).

During our retreat, Darnell (Dolly to us) was up early one morning
and decided she wanted some frozen blueberries.
Some how she spilled almost the whole, Costco-sized bag of
blueberries all over the floor.Bonnie snapped these pictures.

See the swipe of blueberries on the right photo??  We couldn't find a broom so we grabbed
a large piece of card stock to pick up the berries.  As they thawed, the blueberry juice
"smooshed" on the cardstock in a lovely design that looked perfect for card making.
Well, without Dolly knowing, we kept that piece of blueberry smoosh and cut it up.
Each Designer has used one piece in making Dolly's birthday cards. :)

So there you have it!  Sounds like such a fun time doesn't it!!
Wish I could have been there to hear the laughter.

So onto my card details.
I began with the piece that Loll emailed to me as my background.  I printed it out and I did add some more little splatters using some Stormy Sky DOX inks diluted with water.
I stamped the basket of flowers, then die cut it out using my Spellbinder circle die.
Next, using my Zigs, I watercoloured in the flowers, trying to use some colours that complimented the blueberry background. I also added details in the flower heads using my white Sakura pen and then added some Glossy Accents over the big blue flowers to help them pop.
While that dried, I stamped the birthday sentiment using my Misti, then added some scored lines with my Scorbug.
I sponged some more DOX inks along the edge of the circle and pop dot mounted that over the sentiment.
In keeping with my simple card, I mounted it on a heavy white card base.

I hope you will check out what the other designers have done with their blueberry bkgs and also wish Darnell a Happy Birthday.

Thank you for your pretty basket of "blueberry" and plum flowers, Karen! As always, your coloring of the flowers and the basket is perfection and I love the added interest of the inky border on the circle. The whole image is so lovely with part of my blueberry bumble as the background! Thank you for making my 70th birthday very, very special! Hugs, Darnell

A super card Karen, gorgeous colours.
Such a great idea to use the 'smooshed' cardstock to create cards for Darnell.

You have used the perfect colors for your beautiful bouquet to pick up the blueberry bumble background colors! The inking around the edge of the die cut circle gives added dimension and pizzazz!

What a nice background piece you have there and it printed up very prettily! You enhanced it perfectly with your few splatters, and then the lovely basket of flowers on top. I need a new printer. You should have seen how badly my piece printed. However, glitter fixes everything!
