Nature Transforms

Hello and Welcome.
Happy Card Making Day
although it was yesterday but I'm making it into a weekend event for me.
I have had no time to craft since I've been back to work and so busy on the weekends just catching up.
I really needed some time to play which makes me happy.

So here is the card I made using a fun bubble background.
Here are the details.
  • I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock.  I filled up an old coffee mug with some water and a few drops of Dawn dish soap, added some Distress Re-inkers and blew bubbles using a straw.  When the bubbles came to the top of the cup, I pressed my paper into them.  I repeated that process until my card panel was covered.  While I was at it, I made 2 panels so I could have one on hand for another card down the road.  Here is what they looked like:

  • While the bubbles dried, I stamped the flower heads from the Visible Image called Creative Chaos onto some left over paper I had inked with more Distress Oxide inks  (I think I used Peacock Feathers, Broken China and Seedless Preserves) using some Versafine Clair ink.  I did clear heat emboss them to help make the black pop.
  • Next, I fussy cut out the flower heads and set them aside.
  • The bubble panel was dry so I stamped the flowers onto the bubble background, then I glued on of the flower heads over the stamped image and the other one was pop dotted for interest, right over the first one.
  • I stamped the sentiment and details, then splattered with my black Posca pen to add more interest.  I did some markings using an old credit card too.
  • I mounted the piece onto some purple cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look.
Stay safe.

What a great way to get background bubbles Karen and love the colours used on both, so pretty and the VI flowers with the paper pieced flower heads tone in beautifully, and the extra lines and circles look great in the background too. A fabulous card. x

Karen, I always read and love everything you make, but every once in a while I am stopped in my tracks with my mouth open and this is one of those times! Stunning! And since Blue Dawn is a staple in our house (I clean all my stamps with it and nail brush, have for years and still have great stamps) and I own every single bottle color of Distress Ink reinker, I am definitely going to make some backgrounds using your wonderful tutorial. BUT... you pressed the paper into a coffee mug? Good Lord, how wide is that mug????? Haha me thinks I will use a cereal bowl. (And okay I'll try it with a mug because YOU THE MASTER!) Have a great week and thank you always for the awesome inspiration, XOX

I have this bubble technique in my pile of must try and keep forgetting to use it. It looks like a fun technique that Jack would love, so I need to pull it to the top for our next time "doing art"! He loves to play in colored water! I love the Chaos flower with perfect matching colors and artsy feel! Love this, Karen! I'm glad you had a chance to play!

Gorgeous card Karen. I LOVE your bubbles background. The pink is so beautiful used with your coloured paper from your stash for the flowers. I do love this image and it's amazing how different it looks by just changing colours and a few background elements --- very versatile! The black accents are just perfect finishing touches. xx
