Happy Easter

Hello
I'm feeling in the mood for making some Easter cards using some spring-like colours.
Now for those of you that don' t like to get your hands dirty, this may not be for you, but I have to say I love how this turned out.  Those blended colours are so very easy to do with this technique.

So now that I have your attention, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by pulling out this great stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called Stained Glass and a piece of heavy white cardstock.  I positioned the stencil over my card front.
  • Next, I pressed some Distress Oxide inks onto my non-stick craft mat (colours- Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch) and sprayed with a bit of water.
  • Using my finger.....>>>>> yes, I said my finger, I dipped it into the wet ink and pressed it over the stencil onto the paper.  I did one colour at a time, wiping my finger off between inking.  I did try and overlap some of the colours for more interest.
  • I continued over my stencil until all the areas were filled with colour.  I used the leftover ink on my mat to add the splatters with a paint brush.
  • I removed the stencil and set aside to dry.
  • When the panel was dry, I used this sweet bunny die and cut it from the center.  I cut it 2 more times onto some white cardstock and glued them all together so it would be raised on the finished card.
  • I stamped the 'Happy Easter' greeting onto the bottom of the panel, then I glued a piece of dark purple paper behind the cutaway bunny area.  (it looks black in the photo but really is purple)
  • I glued that onto a heavy white card base, then positioned the bunny back into place, matching it up with the background.
  • I added 2 little purple gems to finish off my card.

Here is the stencil I used:

What a great way to add the ink through the stencil using your finger, and the look is great Karen, and such a cute bunny die cut from it with the purple behind which makes it stand out beautifully, also with the help of the added white layers too. x
