Simple Stamping for Christmas

Meet today's card.
Very simple stamping here with a few added touches using some new Penny Black stamps.
As most of you already know, I so love making 'blue' cards and I thought I would try and make a totally monochromatic card.

I began by placing the cardstock into my Misti and stamped the Penny Black Berry Speckled stamp using Stormy Sky Distress ink which is a cool blue.  I moved the stamp around, continuing to stamps around my card front until I was happy with the placement.
Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Love and Peace set in the same colour, keeping the whole card uniform.
To add more interest and depth to the bkg., I sponged on more Stormy Sky, applying it heavier in the corners and then I used a piece of drywall tape and stenciled behind the stamped branches.
I took my Versamark ink pad and rubbed it along the edges of my card front, then white heat embossed to further add to the wintery feel of my card.

Many thanks for coming by and taking a look!

I don't use Stormy Sky ink very much - must remember the lovely effect you got with it. Great layout of stamps and sentiment.

Oh, Karen, this is gorgeous, and your sense of design is so amazing (even in what you call a simple card)! I love the monochromatic look with this beautiful shade of blue! It's stunning, and I some day will have to use the drywall tape that I have...I need that challenge!! Hugs, precious friend! xoxo

I love the white embossing around the edges, Karen. It does give a frosty feel to those wonderful blue berries. You have such a light touch with your background inking.
