Pink Florals

Hello and a Big Welcome.
Do you ever feel like you have lost time and energy because you have been too busy?
That's me the past month so now I'm trying to get back into the groove of things.

Meet today's card.
Yes, I made sure I stepped away from the blue today.  Sometimes I just can't help myself.
Playing with a new stamp from Penny Black called Summer Dream which is just perfect to use with one of my favourite techniques.
I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and some Post-it Tape.  I tore the tape to give me an uneven edge to my finished card and rubbed it in place.  I placed the piece into my Misti and then coloured the flowers with my Tombow markers.  I coloured, sprayed with water, stamped then repeated that process until I was happy with the coverage.
When that was dry, I sponged the edges using some Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink and then splattered on some water to lift some of the colour.  Using the same ink and a piece of drywall tape, I did a bit of stenciling in the background.  Love the depth and interest such a simple detail can add.  I stamped the sentiment from the PB Smitten sentiment set.
I removed the tape masking the edges and simply mounted the piece onto more white cardstock.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Together- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Welcome and meet today's card.
It's time for another fun challenge at the

For those of you that are intimidated by having to watercolour, check out the challenge blog as there are always wonderful links for techniques to get started there and the Design Team always adds so much to be inspired by.
We also want to welcome our GD this month, Stef from Perry Papercrafts.

I began my card by masking the edges with some Score Tape. Next, I inked up a sheet of acetate with Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide inks, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper.  I repeated that process until I was happy with the ink coverage.
I inked up the stars with more DOX and stamped to the side.  Using some drywall tape, I added some stenciling to add some interest and texture.
I placed the inked piece inside my Misti and stamped this wonderful sentiment from Technique Junkies called Together.  I die-cut the birds then added them with pop dots.

Thanks so much for coming to see what I've been up to.
Hope you get a chance to play along.

Wishes for Spring

Happy Saturday.

Just having a bit of play time with some stamps and ink.
So meet today's card.

I just love this Penny Black stamp called Effulgent You can really use it to create the look of watercolouring by just using markers and water.
So, I placed the stamp into my Misti, then using my Tombow markers I coloured directly onto the rubber, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper.  I repeated that process adding more colour and repositioning the stamp around my card front.
After it was dry, I sponged the edges with some Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress ink and splattered with water.  The water helps lift some of the ink leaving you with what looks like little raindrops.
I stamped the sentiment from the PB set called So Very Much.
To add additional interest to the background, I used a piece of drywall tape and did some stenciling using more Peacock Feathers DI.

Have a great weekend and thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Happy Smiles- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
Time for another card for
The Flower Challenge.
Our theme this month is Paper Piecing.

So onto my card.
I began by inking my white cardstock with Distress inks and a sponging tool.
I then stamped the flower stalk to get my positioning right and using my Misti, stamped the sentiment as well.  Then I went onto adding all the details to my background.
I used some drywall tape to stencil, white heat embossed a script and stamped some Mixed Media elements around the empty areas of my card.
I set that aside and stamped the flowers with Versamark ink onto a leftover inked paper found in my stash, then fussy cut out the flowers and pop-dot mounted the flowers over the stems.

On another note...here are some of my cards from The Flower Challenge during 2017.

Hope you get a chance to come and play along with us!

Holiday Cheer

Good Morning.
I had some time to play and make a few extra cards to have on hand so of course, I dragged out my Distress Oxide inks and got down to inking.

For those of you that may have missed my little pictorial about how I did what I called 'Acetate inking' then go here!  It is very easy to do and you can place the ink wherever you want it to go.
I began by inking up my acetate sheet with DOX 's in blues, sprayed with water and pressed onto my card front.  I dried it using my heat tool then laid a piece of drywall tape across the front and stenciled through that.
I stamped the circles to the side to add interest to the overall design, then I die-cut the deer head in black.  I doodled in some lines around the area where I wanted to put the deer then pop-dot mounted it over the doodles.  I added some black gems then stamped the sentiment from Paper Smooches.

The big day is almost here....are you ready??
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Holiday Time

Good Morning and thanks for coming to visit.
Having some fun with my markers and stamps today.

I began by masking the edges of my white card front so I would be left with a crisp white border.  Next, I placed the tree branch inside my Misti, coloured it with my Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process until I was happy with the colour.
When that was dry, I watercoloured in the background using Distress ink then added some extra detail by stenciling with some drywall tape.
I stamped the sentiment then splattered with white acrylic paint.
The finishing touch was to add the berries with some red Nuvo drops, love how they just gave the branches a great pop of colour.

Simple Stamping for Christmas

Meet today's card.
Very simple stamping here with a few added touches using some new Penny Black stamps.
As most of you already know, I so love making 'blue' cards and I thought I would try and make a totally monochromatic card.

I began by placing the cardstock into my Misti and stamped the Penny Black Berry Speckled stamp using Stormy Sky Distress ink which is a cool blue.  I moved the stamp around, continuing to stamps around my card front until I was happy with the placement.
Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Love and Peace set in the same colour, keeping the whole card uniform.
To add more interest and depth to the bkg., I sponged on more Stormy Sky, applying it heavier in the corners and then I used a piece of drywall tape and stenciled behind the stamped branches.
I took my Versamark ink pad and rubbed it along the edges of my card front, then white heat embossed to further add to the wintery feel of my card.

Many thanks for coming by and taking a look!

Lovely Silhouettes- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.
Time for another theme at the

I just love silhouette stamps, so I was excited to see our theme this month and I had just picked up this lovely set from Simon Says and wanted to play with it!

I began making my card by masking off the area on my card front using Painter's Tape.
I stamped the thistles using my Misti and Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I then clear heat embossed them so that there would be no black bleeding into my background when I added the watercolouring.

Leaving the taped mask in place, I watercoloured the background using Distress inks and a wet paintbrush.  Just press your ink pad directly onto your acrylic block or non-stick pad and pick up the colour using a wet paintbrush.
I did some stenciling using drywall tape just on the blue area to add interest.
After removing the painter's tape and to help pull the whole thing together, I doodled a border around the watercoloured area.  I stamped the sentiment then splattered some white acrylic paint over the bkg. for further interest and texture.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you will come and play along with us.

Jumping for Joy

Good Morning.
Simple, happy card today using a technique I showed a few weeks ago that I called
Basically, it is stenciling over a stencil.

I began by masking my card front using Painter's Tape then using some Peeled Paint Distress ink and stenciled the TCW Chicken Wire as the bkg.  I then took some drywall tape and stenciled over that using Peacock Feather.
Using my Misti, I stamped this wonderful image then this fun sentiment.
I clear heat embossed both to help make the black pop.
Lastly, I splattered some diluted Distress ink to look like rain and rubbed more ink along the card edges.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Beautiful Day

Good Morning.
I have my trusty drywall tape out again as my starting point for this card.  I like it as you can add small, subtle details using it for creating your backgrounds.

I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and a piece of drywall tape.  I randomly laid the tape onto my card front and pressed over the tape with my Versamark pad.  I sprinkle on some clear embossing powder, then heat embossed creating a resist.
Next, I dragged my mini Distress ink pads directly over the paper revealing the resist and the drywall patterns emerged.  I sprayed with just a bit of water to help the colors blend.
I placed the inked piece into my Misti and stamped the flowers, then added the sentiment using Archival black ink.  Love the look of the silhouettes.  I also clear heat embossed the sentiment and the flowers.

** helpful tip- When stamping over an embossed bkg., it is a good idea to clear heat emboss the images as it helps make them pop over the embossing. **

I mounted the piece onto a plain white card front to keep it looking fresh.

Thanks for taking the time to come and visit.

Good Friends- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
Time for another card for

I decided to use heat embossing on my card.

I am having a blast playing with my Distress Oxide inks.
I did a tutorial you can check out called

Basically, you dip an old credit card into Distress Oxide ink that has been sprayed with water and drag it down your card front.  The Oxides layer so uniquely and I just love that you get a different look every time.

So onto my card.
I began with a piece of heavy weight cardstock.  I get mine from a local store and tend not to buy it online as the shipping is so expensive to Canada.
Using the above technique, I pulled the Oxide inks over my card front, layering the colours as I went along.  I rubbed my card front with an anti-static pad then I stamped the flowers from Magenta using my Misti with Versamark ink then white heat embossed them.  The white embossing just helped the flowers pop against that colourful bkg.
I stamped the Hero Arts sentiment, then using the edge of my credit card, I added the black lines using ink from my Memento ink pad.  Using some drywall tape, I added extra interest by stenciling a bit in the background.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you will come and play along with us.

Spread Your Wings- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Meet today's card.

Time for another fun Cas Watercolour Challenge.
Got a good one this month, butterfly.

http://caswatercolour.blogspot.com/2017/07/cas-watercolour-july-challenge.html

Summer is upon us and the butterflies are beginning to emerge.
I began making my card by creating the background.  I did that by rubbing Distress inks onto my long acrylic block, sprayed with water and dragged it down the front of my cardstock.  I used heavy white cardstock instead of watercolor paper so the ink will sit just on the surface and not soak in and you will be able to drag the ink.
*The trick is to drag and not press in one place*
I repeated that using a few different shades of blue, leaving some white space showing and then set it aside to dry.
I die-cut the butterfly using the Tim Holtz Detailed Butterfly die onto heavy white cardstock.
To add more interest to my background, I used a piece of drywall tape and stenciled on some more Distress ink.
I glued the butterfly over the bkg., added the black gems to create the body of the butterfly, then used a fine line black marker to draw in the details .

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Flower Lanterns

Happy Saturday.
Playing with some a new stamp from Penny Black today.
I find the Chinese Lantern flowers to be quite fascinating to see growing in the garden.  Their bright orange pop of colour and their unusual shape just hanging there really makes for a beautiful plant.

I began my card by placing the Flower Lanterns into my Misti, then proceeded to colour the flowers using my Tombow markers.  I started with a light yellow, coloured directly onto the stamp, sprayed with water then pressed onto my paper.  I repeated that process using an orange then a hint of red just at the base.
The sprays of water help the colours to blend into each other.
I used the same process for the leaves only using shades of green.
When dry, I inked up my Script stamp with Versamark ink and stamped randomly over my card front.  I sprinkled on some white embossing powder and heat set to add some interest to the bkg.
I stamped the sentiment from the Sentiment Collection and then I sponged the card using Distress inks and an inking tool.
To help add further interest, I stenciled in the bkg using some drywall tape and more of the same green Distress ink.

Have a great weekend and thanks so much for coming by to take a look.

Mother's Day

Meet today's card.
With Mother's Day quickly approaching, I wanted to create a Springtime card.
Playing with some new stamps from Penny Black.

I began by masking the edges of my watercolour paper, then placed my paper inside my Misti to stamp the Penny Black  Full of Glee flowers randomly with Archival ink.  I tried to stamp them around the outside edge of my card so I would have some white space left in the background.
Next, I loosely watercoloured the flowers using my Zigs and let dry.
I stamped the sentiment from the Special Thoughts set using my Misti and clear heat embossed it.
I wanted to give my card a sunny feel, so I inked around the edges with yellow Distress ink and went in and did some stenciling with my drywall tape.

Living Life

Happy Saturday!
I hope you are enjoying some nice weather in your part of the world.
We had snow the other day but I really hope that Spring will come and stay now.

Playing with some new stamps again from Penny Black.
As most of you know, I love my Distress inks and love playing with them to see what kind of backgrounds I can come up with.  I created this one by partially inking up my long acrylic block, sprayed with water and dragged down my card front instead of just placing it there and letting the ink soak in.  By doing that, I was able to leave some areas white and open to stamp over.
Next, I placed the PB Effulgent stamp inside my Misti, coloured it with Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped onto my heavy weight white cardstock.  (I find that the cs I use is ok for this type of water stamping and hold up well.)  I repeated the above process using darker shades of the orange and then some dark brown to add shadow.
I stamped the sentiment from the PB Happy Wishes sentiment set again using my Misti and then finished my card off by using my 'go to' drywall tape to stencil in some of the open areas.

Dream On

Welcome and hello.
Today, I am playing with some new stamps from Penny Black..always fun to play with new toys.

I love to watercolour so my first thought when I saw this Effulgent flower stamp was to give it a look of watercolour.  I did that by placing the  flower in my Misti, coloured it with my Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process with a darker shade of blue to give the flower more interest.
To help balance out my card front, I stamped the Unfolding flower in the bottom left corner by using the same process as mentioned above.
Next, I sponged the edges with Distress ink and added some stenciling using drywall tape.
* Drywall tape is always sitting on my desk and I love using it to give more depth and interest to my backgrounds or just to perk up the look of a card. *
I stamped the sentiment from the Happy Wishes sentiment set using my Misti again and Memento ink.
Finally, I added some Nuvo drops; sorry it is hard to see those in the photo.
