Welcome
Time for another fun theme at the
Our theme this month is Ocean.
We are welcoming our guest this month; Robyn from Waterlily Cards by Robyn.
When I sat down to create my card for the challenge, I thought of the usual water with seagulls, grasses, lighthouses etc. but decided to make a more graphic, collage style card depicting things I would expect to see at the ocean. I have never seen the ocean IRL but would love to some day.
I began by masking my cardstock with some Post-It tape. I made sure when I masked that I left enough room on the bottom to stamp my sentiment when I was done.
Then, I began to ink and stamp the background using stamps that I felt worked for a beach card.
First I did some 'Acetate Inking' using a piece of acetate and Distress Oxide inks sprayed with water. I made sure that was good and dry then placed the piece into my Misti.
I stamped the sun first, the circles and the lines represent the incoming waves, the checked pattern represents the picnic blanket pattern, the splashes are the water of course.
After I was done stamping, I sponged the edges with more of the blue Distress Oxide ink.
I then stamped the Big Wish image from TT with black Memento ink and clear embossed it so it would pop.
I removed all the masked areas and stamped the sentiment and simply mounted it onto a white card front.
Please come and play and thanks so much for the visit today.

Fabulous stamping Karen and super design, Kate x
I love your graphic ocean design Karen. So unique and creative ... and clever. Love the contrast with the bright, light blue and your black silhouettes. Beautiful design, my friend! xx
Oh my, Karen, but your collage stamped background representing the ocean (perfect) was a wonderful background for your stamped beach images. I am partial, but I think our Southwestern Oregon beaches and ocean waves are the most beautiful on the lower 48 states. I hope your dream of seeing the ocean comes through someday, my friend. In the meantime, your card is so inspiring and creative. TFS Hugs...
Wow...absolutely stunning. The background collage is fantastic and the black silhouette is perfect with it. Great sentiment too x
Love, love, love this background with all the different images depicting a day at the beach! The image is amazing and I often feel like stretching out my arms in joy when I see the ocean! A lovely, lovely card, my friend!
This is a beautiful card Karen and love your representation of the beach/sea elements with the different stamps and love the wonderful sentiment. We are very lucky here in the UK that you are never that far from the sea so I suppose it is difficult for me to understand that there are people for whom the distance is immense which makes it that much harder to visit it. I have actually been for a walk by the sea this evening to a place about half an hour away. I do really hope that you manage it some day Karen. x
Oh my gosh, not seen the ocean.. Karen, you must go, a bit like not many people in Australia seeing snow. Anyway I love your collage style card, using stamped images to create the elements - fabulous, I don't know about Acetate Inking, so I'll have to look into that. Great images and fab sentiment
wonderful ocean image with all those stamps, love the deck chair and umbrella such great stamps NS and the sentiment is is perfect :)
What a wonderful image and sentiment for the ocean challenge! Love the background you created with shades of blue and the different stamps.
I love this beautiful little scene you created Karen. As always... so inspiring!
What a fabulous card Karen - one would not think that you have not seen the ocean!!
I was stunned by that comment - but then I live on a (relatively small) island, only just over an hour from the sea in one direction, and never much more than two and a half hours.
Blessings
Maxine
Oh, Karen! I love the looks of this inky watercolor design! And the images stamped over are terrific for a wonderful sense of happiness at the ocean. The oceans are fabulous. They are big and powerful. I love sitting watching the ocean just do what the ocean does without concern for anything else. Definitely it is to be respected.
What a joyous set of images all put together beautifully. LOVE it.

What a gorgeous expression of summer with that pretty background and the wonderful silhouette images used. Great ocean design.
Gorgeous beach scene, Karen! You mainly used a calm color (blue) and yet I can feel lots of fun and energy from the scene. Love the way you stamped over the acetate inked background! Hideko xx
You should mat all of your creations... they sure are frame-worthy!!

So very artsy. So very CAS. I wanna be where she is! Lovely, Karen.
You can certainly tell this is all about loving the ocean with your wonderful silhouette stampings and that fun collage of stampings for your background! Very creative design Karen!
Your collage backgrounds are always fabulous, Karen, and this is no exception. I see your vision and feel the excitement of the girl as she enjoys the ocean. You have such wonderful sentiments that speak to your design. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Addicted to CAS.
Karen, this card is so wonderful. The ocean is my favorite sight to behold - I am blessed to live close enough to it that I can really go to the beach and soak in the calm and beauty and wound of the waves as they break on the sane. I so hope you do get to see it. Your mind's eye has captured it so beautifully. I really love this card and am glad to have the reminder of the acetate inking technique. I just love this.
Oh Karen I love your card, wonderful beach scene and fantastic sentiment. So beautiful ...
Hugs
