Falling Snow

Good Morning.
We were happy to have some snow for Christmas this year.  Not a lot but just enough to make it a white Christmas.  I love the look of the snow hanging on the trees and it inspired me to make a card.

So onto my card.
I wanted my card to have a crisp, white border so I got out my Rectangle Mask from A Colorful Life and placed that over my card front.  I am loving these masks for creating this kind of card!
I placed the masked piece inside my Misti and stamped the Pine Trees with black ink.
Next, I sponged in the background using some Distress Oxide inks using a blending tool.
To add interest to my little scene, I stenciled over the background using the Grunge Dots, then I splattered it all up with some white acrylic paint.
I removed the mask and then scored a frame all around the scene using my ScorPal.
I kept the sentiment simple using a stamp from PB.  I mounted it onto a darker blue to bring out the blue on the stenciled snow and then onto a plain white card base.

Thanks so much for taking time to come by and see what I've been up to.

I love this card also, Karen. A pretty snow scene in the winter wonderland. I tried finding info on the rectangle marvelous mask to see how it works, but had no luck finding a video or such illustration of use. Here in Wisconsin we had a Christmas Day snow also. Like you, just enough to make it a white Christmas. It was like waking up to magic. Wishes do come true.

I'll have to investigate those masks as I haven't heard of them. Love your winter scene - great sponging, stenciling, and splattering for background interest.

A beautiful card my friend. A perfect winter scene looking so soft and serine. Hard to imagine the cool and snow as we sit through another heat wave. Even Jake thinks twice before going outside, I havent opened the curtains for the last couple of days as the heat is so intense its better to be in a dim twilight zone with the air conditioning going in the background. hugs xx Aileen

Forgot to mention I love how that mask works and then the scoring around the edges, really adds a beautiful crisp look.

The scoring around the edges is a wonderful idea! It is one I will use to add texture to one dimensional cards. Your whole card is beautiful.
