Welcome
Meet today's card.
It turned out a lot better then I had pictured in my head, always great when that happens.
I decided to make a wrap around card using this fun newly released stencil called Mermaid Crossing from A Colorful Life Designs.
I have some little friends who have birthdays coming up and I thought this would work so well for that.
So here's what I did to create my card.
- I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock that would become the wrap around part of my card. I cut a piece of cardstock that was 4 1/4 x 6". I could have stenciled directly onto a side fold card base, but I like adding the panel as it gives a bit more weight to the card.
- I placed the Mermaid Crossing stencil onto the panel I had cut and inked it up with some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink. I added some Blueprint Sketch ink to the areas around the mermaids and a hint to then mermaids as well.
- I removed the stencil and used the Bubble Release stencil to add some details in the open areas.
- I lifted some of the ink by spraying with water, then set aside to dry.
- While the panel dried, I stamped the little Mermaid, coloured with my Copics and then die cut her out.
- I cut a white cardstock circle and stenciled one of the shells from the Shells stencil with the same ink colours I used for the panel.
- I placed the circle into my Misti and stamped the sentiment, then gently inked up the edges of the circle.
- I cut another circle from some blue cardstock and glued the 2 circles together.
- Now to assemble my card....I took the 6" panel and scored it at 3" and glued that onto my A2 card base that had a side fold.
- I cut 2 thin strips of the blue cardstock and glued them along each edge of the panel.
- I pop dotted the circle over the card front and then pop dotted the little stamped mermaid onto the circle.
