Delicate Flowers

Welcome
Meet today's card.
It has such a textural, unique look and was all done with the help of a piece of bubble wrap.  I watched a video by Tracy Evans and I was off to try it out.  I will be doing it again for sure.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock.  I took out some Dina Wakely acrylic paint and squeezed a small blob onto my TH Glass mat.  Using a small piece of bubble wrap, I picked up some of the paint and dabbed it onto my cardstock.
  • I continued that process, changing colours until the whole panel was painted up.  I set that aside to dry completely.
  • When it was totally dry, I rubbed the whole panel with an anti-static bag, then I pulled out this beautiful set called Fragile Foliage from Altenew.  I placed the painted panel into my Misti and stamped the flowers with some Versamark ink.
  • I white heat embossed the flowers.  (Be sure to use the anti-static bag or you will have white embossing powder stuck all over the front of your card panel.)
  • Using a small leftover piece, I stamped the sentiment from the same set with some black and clear heat embossed that.
  • I glued the main panel onto a heavy white card base, then pop dotted the sentiment into the corner.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

The Journey

Welcome
Meet today's card.
I made this background while having a play with my Gel Plate and acrylic paints from the Dollar Store.  Why waste the extra when you can use it for a card background.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a heavy white cardstock panel.  Using a brayer, I rolled different colours of paint onto my cardstock.  It was the excess from using my Gel Plate.  (For those of you unfamiliar with a Gel Plate, it is a gel like flat piece that is used for printing.  After applying paint to the surface of it, you brayer to smooth it out evenly and there is usually excess paint on the brayer and that's what I used for my card background.)
  • I set the panel aside to dry completely before moving on to do the next step.
  • When the panel was totally dry, I placed it into my Misti and stamped the sentiment called Destination Sentiments from Penny Black with some Versafine Clair Noir ink and clear heat embossed it.  I did that so it would show up better over the painted background that can be sometimes tricky to stamp over.
  • I took the panel and die-cut the Cozy die from Penny Black along the side.
  • Next, I glued the cut card panel onto a heavy white card base and then pop dotted the die-cut piece back into place.
  • I added some matching blue gems to the die-cut centers.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Relax- Scrape Painting

Welcome
A few months ago, as I was playing with my acrylic paints, I created this card:
Well today, I'm happy to say that Splitcoast Stamper has decided to feature it on their Technique Tutorial Wednesday!  I wrote up the tutorial so that you all have a chance to try it out.
There are lots of wonderful samples there for you to check out as well as Dina Kowal created a video using the technique.
Above is the card I created for the premiere.
Splitcoast Stampers Tutorial

So here are my card details.
I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock.  I squeezed out drops of paint onto my card panel, then using a Stencil Pal (or you could use a credit card); I moved the paint in a circular motion until I had the paint spread out.  Be sure to let your panel dry completely before doing the next steps.
When my panel was all dry, I placed it into my Misti and stamped the thistle, then the sentiment and clear heat embossed them.
I added some black acrylic paint splatters for interest.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
I hope you will give it a try.
