Savannah Giraffes

Happy Saturday!
Meet today's card inspired by a new stamp I just picked up from Technique Junkies.
I love this sculptural looking tree and just had to have it.
I wanted to make a totally unusual background as well so here is what I did.

I began by stamping the large Alpha Collage onto my paper using grey Memento ink.  I wanted the letters to be visible but not prominent.  Using a ruler, I drew in a grid pattern and watercolored the squares using my Distress inks, trying to give each square some variation of colour by using similar shades and adding more or less water.
When that was all dry, I placed the stamp into my Misti and inked it with black Memento.  I then clear heat embossed the image to help make it pop.
I mounted the whole piece onto a piece of black then colored cardstock and then to my white card front.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
I hope you are inspired to use your background stamps in a different way too.

This is a great idea for a background Karen and the alphabet looks perfect on the different watercoloured squares. The silhouette accacia tree and giraffes are a really strong image to place over the top and a great stamp to add to your stash. x
