Sunburst

Hello and Welcome
Meet today's card.
I hope it brings peace and hope to someone special in these uncertain times.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock.  Using the Cloud Edger stencil from A Colorful Life Designs, I inked up the panel using my Blender Brushes and my Distress Oxide inks.  They really blend so nicely together.  I took a picture of the inks while I had them out so I wouldn't forget what I used.  I began with the lightest colours at the top and moved my way down the cardstock, moving the stencil around and changing the angles.  *Cloud Edger comes with 4 different sides and you also get the outside edge it was cut from*
  • After the whole panel was inked up, I took out the Corner Rays stencil also from A Colorful Life Designs and positioned it at the top of my inked panel.  Using some Faded Jeans Distress ink and a light hand, I applied a bit of ink over the stencil just to make the sunrays show up and the Distress ink colours still be visible below.
  • Next, I rubbed the panel with my anti-static pad and placed the piece into my Misti.  I stamped the sentiment from Impression Obsession with Versafine Clair Noir ink and clear heat embossed it.
  • I splattered the panel with some water, then splattered again with my white Posca pen.
  • I mounted the finished piece onto a piece of sunny yellow cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.
  • Lastly, I added some little gems near the sentiment. **IDEA:  I didn't have any gems that matched my card panel...black was a bit too harsh, so I took out some little white ones I had and coloured them with a blue Copic marker.  Looked much better*

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Karen, that sun ray stencil really brings out the dimension! This reminds me of where we live in Florida - huge thunderclouds with rays of sun shining thru the bottom, and always, rainbows, too! hugs, de

That looks fabulous Karen and love the wonderful shapes with the cloud edger in all those pretty colours, and the sun ray stencilling over the top give such an exciting and dramatic look to the whole thing using the blue which has darkened the top sufficiently to give a strong effect, and love the way you have gradually faded it out as you have worked your way down. A great sentiment to finish too and love the three black enamel dots. x

I kept looking at your card trying to figure out how the yellow rays still showed the clouds and then realized its an optical illusion as I should have been focused on the colored rays is where the blue was stenciled. So genius, love the effect and the result is so uplifting. thank you!
