Welcome
Christmas in July seems to be everywhere of late, so I decided to make a very simple card to get my holiday creating started. I guess it's never to early to begin!!
This card would be a simple one to recreate especially if you are doing multiples.
I dug into my stash of inked papers and this is what I came up with.
So here's what I did to create my card.
- I found this piece of inked paper in my stash. I love the colour blends, it reminded me of a cozy sweater. I made it while playing with my Gelli Plate. I always keep extra paper nearby to roll off my brayer when inking the plate and this was one of those roll off sheets. Like I said in a previous post, use your roll offs for creating backgrounds. For this one I used my Distress Oxide inks (Broken China, Wilted Violet, Seedless Preserves)
- I took the inked panel and die-cut it using the Nordic Winter die from Tim Holtz.
- I glued that onto a piece of white cardstock, then onto a white card base.
- Using a leftover strip of white cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from Paper Smooches in my Misti and then pop dotted it over the die-cut background.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Karen, these colors are so awesome! I love how you’ve used your roll off paper with that great Winter die. I also love the non-traditional Christmas colors for a your card. I just recently got a Gelli plate but have only given it a single quick text run. I like what I got though. I am thinking no matter what you throw at the Gelli, you will always get an interesting paper design. I really need to make some time to play with it for awhile rather than a few minutes. You always inspire me.
A gorgeous card Karen, I love the colours and the die, a super design, Kate x
The piece of roll off from a gelli plate session is so pretty and I love the colour combination, and the TH die with all the different images cut from it leaving the white shapes is a great idea Karen and love the rather naive script on the raised up strip which finishes it perfectly. x
Fabulous, love the purple as I like non traditional colors for Christmas anyway. Thank you for playing at the Male Room Challenges
Absolutely GORGEOUS x
This is GORGEOUS!! I LOVE the purple color you chose and the way you just die cut out and mounted it to create this card. This would be so easy to mass produce with different hand made papers. STUNNING design!
Oooooh! Fabulously brilliant colors, Karen, and a marvelously festive cast of characters! Hugs, de
Always love your cards, Karen! Jo x

This is a fabulous card! I love the colours of the background and the die cuts from it. The sentiment strip is perfect to finish it off too. It looks very sleek and stylish. Thanks for playing along with The Male Room. X

Last year, I made a bunch of cards using the little pieces from this die. I think I deserve to now make some easy ones with the negative piece. I love the way your card turned out. Thanks for sharing it.
