Joyful Journey

Hello and Welcome
I truly appreciate you dropping in to see what I have been up to.
This card was born after creating a fun and easy background, inspired by Vicki Boutin and one of her Friday Night Lives.  She does them every Friday for free!
So this one was done with regular Distress inks, a stencil and some water.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I started with a piece of heavy weight white cardstock.  It has to be on the heavier side so it will be stable with all the water added.  I randomly inked the sheet up with some Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and some Dried Marigold DI.  Just random but with lots of ink....the more ink, the better results you will get.
  • Next, I sprayed the Dot Circle stencil from ACLD heavily with water, then placed it onto the inked cardstock.  I pressed it down all over making good contact.  I sprayed on some extra water over the top and dabbed with a paper towel to lift a bit.  Leaving the stencil in place, I set it aside to dry.
  • When it was dry, this is what it looked like:

  • I wanted to try and get 2 card panels so I used the Marvelous Masks Rectangles to help me figure out the best way to cut the panel into 2 good pieces.  The masks come in a set of 4 sizes and are clear, so it's easy to move them around.  When I was happy with the placement, I made a few tiny pencil marks and then cut the panel down.  I put the extra half away for another card.
  • I placed the panel into my Misti and stamped the thistles and the sentiment in black.  I love the look of the silhouettes against that background.
  • I glued it onto a piece of black cardstock, then a white panel, then a black, then onto a white card base.

Here is the stencil I used:
