Snowflake Magic

Welcome
I'm excited to introduce you to this beautiful new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
I paired it up with an older released stencil called Jewel Snowflake to make this dramatic looking card using some non- traditional colours.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed a square piece of cardstock onto my Make Art Station and positioned the Jewel Snowflake over that, centering it up on the panel.  I inked over the whole thing with some Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide ink.
  • Leaving the snowflake in place, I put the Big Ornament stencil right over it and inked that up with some Villainous Potion DOX ink.  It made for a most dramatic look.
  • While that dried, I got out a piece of vellum and stamped the sentiment with some Versafine Clair black ink and clear heat embossed it carefully so the vellum wouldn't wrinkle.
  • I wrapped the sentiment strip around the stenciled card front and attached it at the back.
  • I glued the panel onto a 4 1/4" square card base.
  • Finally, I added 3 navy gems around the sentiment.

Here are the stencils I used:

Make Memories

Good Morning.
Yesterday over at Splitcoast Stampers, we were challenged to create a card using Snowflakes as the theme and this technique created by Lee aka LuvLee she called Paink for our background.
Since I love to try new techniques, I was ready to try it out.

Here are the instructions she gave:
1. Sponge blue acrylic paint lightly on cardstock
2. Spritz blue ink refill lightly and brush (I drizzled evenly)
3. Drizzle blending solution, brush then set with heat tool

Lee's card was a blue base and since blue works great with snowflakes, I decided to make mine blue too (big surprise eh?).  I followed her instructions and my card came together easily.
I began by sponging on some blue acrylic paint, then I filled up a small spritzer bottle with diluted re-inker and sprayed some over the sponged bkg.  I dried that, then drizzled on the Blending Solution.  I added an extra step, I splattered the piece with white acrylic paint to look like snow.

I dried the piece then die cut out the dots.  I then placed it into my Misti and stamped the large snowflake from Tim Holtz in the corner using some Versamark ink and white heat embossed it.
I did the same with the smaller snowflakes from MFT.
Lastly, I stamped in the sentiment, added the black dots and then simply mounted it onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Plaid Christmas

Happy Saturday.
Meet today's card.  I wanted to try and stamp some plaid for Christmas and this is what I came up with.

I began by placing the plaid stamp from Lawn Fawn into my Misti, simply inked it with black Memento ink then pressed onto my paper.  I used a red Tombow marker to draw in some extra lines which helped the whole piece pop by adding so much more interest to the black plaid.
I stamped this vintage looking Santa from Flonz with my Misti again and fussy cut him out so I could mount him to the black and red background.  I stamped the sentiment to one side and mounted the Santa with pop dots right into the middle.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Have a great weekend.

Great Friend

Hello.  Give me some stamps, paper and Distress inks and I am having fun.  This card started with this fun sentiment from Technique Tuesday.  I wanted a way to highlight it over a background.
This is the process I used.
I stamped the sentiment in black Memento ink and embossed it with clear powder.  Next, I inked up the background stamp with Versamark ink then rubbed off some of the ink in the center area where the sentiment was placed.  I stamped and embossed with white embossing powder.  I painted over that with watered down Distress inks and splattered with white paint.   When that was all dry, I coloured the camera with Copic markers and added it with pop dots.

Cherish

Morning.  I am having so much fun stamping with my new stamp set from Altenew that I wanted to make another card...something sunny, summery.  This is what I came up with.
The hexagon background is a stamp from Hero Arts.  Love the graphic hexagons.  I inked it up with Distress inks (Mustard Seed, Squeezed Lemonade, Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade), sprayed with water and stamped.  I was left with a great blend of the colours.
I wanted to highlight the sentiment, so I cut the bkg. piece and mounted it on either side of the sentiment.  The roses were stamped with the same orange shades of Distress inks and cut out then mounted with pop dots.

I am also including my card in these challenges:

Seize the Birthday- SEEING YELLOW

Simon Says- ANYTHING GOES

Crafting When We Can- BRIGHT COLOURS

Fusion- BEACH HOUSE
