Brush off the Dust

Good Morning

Today's card was a fun one.

I created it by doing some stencil layering using the Big Blot stencil and the Paint Strokes stencil, both from A Colorful Life Designs.

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock and placed it onto my Make Art Station.  I positioned the Big Blot stencil over that and secured it well.  
• I took the Paint Strokes stencil, laid it over the Splat and inked it up with some Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide ink.  I moved the stencil then inked again with some Peacock Feathers DOX ink.  I kept repeating that process, moving the stencil into different areas and inked with some Cracked Pistachio and a hint of Uncharted Mariner DOX ink.
• I removed both stencils and splattered with my white Posca pen.
• I stamped the sentiment in the bottom corner.
• I glued it onto a roll-off sheet that I had rolled some purple ink off my brayer while Gel Plate printing. I like the look of the mottled background and it matched the purples in the card.
• I glued that onto an A2 sized card base.

Today, I'm having some fun with this great Paint Strokes stencil from ACLD inked up with happy colours of Distress Oxide inks.

So many possibilities using it too.

So here's what I did to create my card.

• I cut a piece of white cardstock that was 3 3/4" x 5" first.  I wanted my card to be simple with a clean white border around it, so I placed one of the Marvelous Rectangle Masks from ACLD over my cardstock that masked off an area in the center of my card panel.
• I used the Paint Strokes stencil in a random way, placing it onto the panel and inking some of the strokes from the top and some going up from the bottom all within the rectangle mask.  Here are the colours I used in order from left to right:  Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed and Picked Raspberry.
• When I was happy with the inking, I splattered using my white Posca pen.
• When the ink was dry, I die cut the sentiment outline from the middle of the panel and the word part from some white cardstock, then glued them together.
• I used my ScorPal board to score a border around the inked area after removing the rectangle mask.  It really helped to frame it up and gave some more visual interest.
• I glued the stenciled piece onto some blue cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.
• I pop dot mounted the sentiment back into place in the center and glued on the white heart.

Meet today's card.

It started as a white cardstock circle I cut out for something? and found in my stash.

From there, an idea and a card was born.

So here's what I did to create my card.

• Like I mentioned above, I found this white die cut circle in my stash and then when I searched a bit, I found the negative I had cut it from.
• So, my original plan was to use this wonderful Paint Strokes stencil from ACLD, to stencil the circle for my card.  I laid the circle into the cut away square just to hold it there, but it became part of the card design as I loved the look.
• I randomly placed the Paint Strokes stencil around the outside of the circle and inked it up with a rainbow of colours using a blending brush and my Distress Oxide inks.  The colours I used were: Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Prize Ribbon, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet.
• While that dried, I die cut the sentiment 3 times from some black cardstock and glued them together.
• I cut a white card base 4 1/4" square and used some foam tape to pop the negative die cut square onto the base.  I matched up the circle to the inside and glued it down right onto the base.
• I glued the die cut sentiment over the cut away circle area.
