Hugs for You

Welcome
Today's card features another newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called Trailing Vines.
I decided to do a technique using some plastic wrap on my Gel Plate.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I got out my Gel Plate and some plastic wrap.  I pressed some Villainous Potion Distress Oxide ink onto one side of my plate and some Cracked Pistachio on the other side.  I brayered the colours together and then placed a piece of wrinkled plastic wrap over the plate and pressed it down, transferring the wrinkles onto the ink on the plate.
  • Next, I removed the plastic wrap and rubbed a piece of white cardstock onto the plate to get my background.
  • I placed the Trailing Vines stencil over my inked background and blended some Rustic Wilderness over the whole panel.  It really added such interest to the leaves.
  • I splattered using my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • When it was dry, I die cut the sentiment words from the center of the panel and then cut the shadow of the sentiment with some white cardstock and glued the two together.
  • I glued the stenciled panel onto a piece of light purple cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I pop dotted the sentiment over the main panel.

Here is the stencil I used:

Holiday Greetings

Good Morning
Today, I am playing with some cling wrap and my Distress Oxide inks.  You can get some really great looking backgrounds easily using the stuff.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by inking up a piece of heavy white cardstock, starting at the bottom with the lightest colour and worked my way up.  I added some Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Faded Jeans and Blueprint Sketch.  I used a Ranger Blending tool to add the ink, blending the colours together.
  • Next, I took out a piece of plastic wrap, wrinkled it up, sprayed it with water and laid my inked panel onto the wrap.  (The DOX inks are reactive with water so it lifts the inks.)
  • There are other ways to use this technique.  Try applying the ink directly to the plastic wrap, spray with water and put your cardstock onto that for a more intense colour lift.
  • I let the wrap sit on the panel for a bit, removed it and then dried with my heat tool.
  • When the panel was completely dry, I placed it into my Misti and stamped the trees from Impression Obsession.
  • I stamped the sentiment from Studio G and clear heat embossed it. then using my Posca white pen, I splattered the panel with some white to look like snow.
  • I mounted the panel on a piece of white, then black, then onto a heavy white card base.  I think it has a nice peaceful feeling.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Happy Birthday Bonnie- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Welcome
What a fun month we have had at the

We are celebrating another wonderful friend's birthday.
Happy Birthday to Bonnie

Our theme is Bouquet of Flowers; add one to your watercoloured card.

This month we also welcome our talented guest Leslie from Running With Scissors.

So onto my card details.
I began with a piece of plastic kitchen wrap (leaving all the folds and wrinkled areas on it) and rubbed some Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers directly over that.
I gave it a spritz of water to blend, then pressed my paper into the wet ink.  It left behind such a pretty design on my paper and was so quick and easy to do.
Next, using the new Stitched Circle die from PB, I cut a circle in the centre of my card front.  I mounted that over my inked background and added a few die-cut wildflowers.
I stamped the sentiment then glued it onto a piece of light green, then onto a plain white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Pretty Pastels- The Flower Challenge

Good morning.
Time for another card for

This month, we are also happy to be giving away a lovely stamp set from Uniko.
We are also welcoming our Guest Designer Michelle Lupton.

We are playing with pretty pastels this month which has been a lot of fun.
I started to create my card by rubbing some DOX ink (colours listed below) onto a piece of plastic wrap, sprayed with water and pressed my heavy white cardstock into the wet ink.  The wrinkled nature of the plastic wrap leaves such wonderful textures and designs to a card base and it super easy to do too!
Next, I placed the dry piece into my Misti and stamped the flower with black Memento ink.  I stamped the flower head again onto a piece of white cardstock as well and fussy cut it out.
Using the same colours of DOX inks I used in the background inking, I watercoloured in the flower and then splattered with some white acrylic paint to add interest.
I stamped some extra interest on the bkg using a variety of stamps (listed below), then stamped this great sentiment from Penny Black.  I pop dotted the flower head over the one stamped onto the card front and then mounted the piece onto some soft pink then onto a plain white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
I hope you will come and play along with us.

Art of God

Happy Saturday and time to play.

I just picked up some new flower stamps from Magenta and wanted to play with them on my inky bkg.
So onto the card details.

Often, when I am working on a card either painting with inks or creating a background, I press the inks directly onto my non-stick craft sheet and use the inks from there.  I always have some leftover and that is how this card came to be.
I was using my Distress Oxides for another project, there was some ink left on my non-stick pad so I sprayed with water and pressed a piece of crumpled up plastic wrap into the wet ink and pounced over my white card front and the bkg was born.  Love how the DOX's layer and it is such a super easy way to make background for your cards easily and with things you already have on hand.
Next, I placed the stamps inside my Misti, inked with Archival black and stamped the silhouettes.
The sentiment is a new one to me from Technique Junkies.

Hope you give it a try and thanks again for the visit!
