Harmony

Good Morning
Here is a card I made a few days ago.  Just having some fun playing with my Distress Oxide inks.
My card was inspired by a previously inked piece that I made using Alcohol inks on Yupo.

So onto my card details.
I got a piece of white cardstock and positioned my acrylic rectangle mask over my paper.  I took my colour cues from the Alcohol inked piece and got out some Peacock Feather, Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks and proceeded to apply it to the background with a makeup blending brush.  To add interest, I stenciled along the side and bottom with the Grains stencil from A Colorful Life Designs using some more Faded Jeans DI ink.  I splattered with water to lift some of the colour, love how it looks like raindrops, then I added a bit of stamping using stamps from the same VI set.
Next, I removed the acrylic mask and stamped in the flower from Visible Image using my Misti and some black Memento ink.  I stamped the flower head again onto my piece of inked Yupo and heat embossed it with some Ranger Black EB powder.  I fussy cut it out and pop dotted it over my inked rectangle.  Lastly, I doodled in a line to pull the whole design together.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Together

Good Morning
Meet today's card.
There is something about picking up some new stamps to help motivate and inspire you!
That's how I felt this week after getting 2 new stamps from Magenta's new release.
One is called Egrets in Reeds and the other is called Reflective Blue Heron.  This week, I also came up with a technique I called Merging Backgrounds.  After seeing these 2 stamps, I got to thinking about putting them together onto one card and that's what happened.

I began by looking through some of the pieces I had inked with my Gelli Plate.  I like to make a bunch of backgrounds and put them away to use at a future date.
This one was done with some acrylic paint and a some Distress Oxide inks.  I used a little textured brayer to give the pattern you see along the top edge.
I placed the inked piece inside my Misti and stamped the first bird in place.  I sprinkled on some clear embossing powder and heat set it.  I placed it back into my Misti and positioned it over the first image, bringing the two together, stamped and clear embossed again.
Voila.....merged the images.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Enjoy the Little Things- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning
A new month means it's time for a new theme at

This month we are so happy to have a special sponsor and a great prize to be won.
Thanks to Altenew for offering a great stamp set to one lucky winner.

So onto my card details.
I began with a plain piece of heavy white cardstock and placed my rectangle mask from A Colorful Life Designs over that.  I rubbed on some Cracked Pistachio DOX ink at the bottom and some Wilted Violet and Shaded Lilac at the top, blending the colours together.  When I was happy with the blending, I placed the Crossword stencil over the inky background and rubbed on some more Wilted Violet DOX ink.  I splattered it with some water to lift some of the ink and give more interest to the background.

While that dried, I stamped these flowers from the Charmed Altenew set with Versamark ink onto a piece of Yupo that had been previously inked up with Ranger Alcohol inks, then sprinkled on some Ranger Black Embossing powder and heat set.  I just got this black eb powder and I am really liking it.  It gives a good solid emboss to projects.
I took the embossed flowers and fussy cut them out.
Before pop dotting my flowers to my card front, I placed the inked piece inside my Misti, stamped the sentiment from the same Altenew set with Versamark and heat embossed it with some white embossing powder.
I doodled a border around the inking to pull it all together and then simple mounted it onto a white card base.

I hope you get a chance to come and play along with us this month and have a chance to win the stamp set from Altenew.

Everyday

Good Morning
Meet today's card.  I'm playing with a stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and a new technique I've not tried before.  I just love the distressed looking background I was left with.
So onto my card details.

I began by placing the Bo Ho Medallion stencil onto my white cardstock and brushed some Nuvo Masking Fluid over the top using an old paintbrush....please don't use your good brushes for this technique as it will get pretty gummed up.  I carefully removed the stencil, set the piece aside to dry and immediately washed off my stencil with warm water.
When it was all nice and dry, I rubbed over the whole front with some  Peacock Feathers and some Peeled Paint DOX inks and a blending tool.  I also used a wet paintbrush to help move the inks around and fill the spaces.  When I was happy with all the inked areas, I rubbed all the masking fluid off to reveal this distressed feeling bkg.  The nice thing about this background is that you are able to stamp right over it keeping your card flatter and easier to mail.
Next, I placed the piece inside my Misti and stamped this great sentiment from STAMPloration and then the flourish from Technique Tues.  I did clear heat emboss the sentiment to help make it pop.
I simply mounted it onto a white card base keeping it simple.

For a Child- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome
This month, I have the pleasure of hosting the

I thought this would be a fun theme and the perfect chance to create some fun cards to have on hand for the little ones in our lives.  It's sure to be a fun, happy gallery this month.
We welcome our Guest this month Bobby from Bits and Pieces.

So onto my card.
I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and die-cut a circle shape using a die from Spellbinders.  I placed the piece inside my Misti then stamped the flower girl image into the center of the circle.  Using a wet paintbrush, I painted her in with some Candied Apple and Fired Brick DOX inks and then used some Copics for her legs, face and cheeks.
When she was all dry, I covered the petals of the flower with some Rangers Glossy Accents to add a shine then I pierced all around the edge of the circle to add interest.
Onto my card front.  I rubbed some Spiced Marmalade onto my non-stick craft mat, sprayed with water and picked up the ink with an old credit card.  I dragged the ink down the side of my card front until I was happy with the inking.  I dipped the edge of the credit card into the red Candied Apple DOX to create the lines you see over the orange.  I added some splatters with the leftover red ink.  It reminded me of a fun yellow plaid when done.
Lastly, I stamped the sentiment, pop dotted the image over the sentiment and then mounted it all onto a plain white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you come and play along with us.
