Good Morning

I want you to meet the newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called

BIG MUSIC

I used it with a wonderful older stencil called

PAINT STROKES

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I placed the PAINT STROKES stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked from top to bottom using these Distress Oxide ink colours:  Ripe Persimmon; Picked Raspberry; Cracked Pistachio; Shaded Lilac and Salvaged Patina. It made for a fun and colourful background.
• Next, I placed the BIG MUSIC stencil over the background and inked with some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink.
• I placed the panel into my Misti to stamp the sentiment across the top.
• Using my white Posca pen, I splattered o9ver the whole panel to add some interest.
• I glued the dried panel onto a piece of purple cardstock and then onto a white A2 sized card base to finish off my card..

Fruit Punch

Today's card was just a fun mix of colours that reminded me of fruit punch.

I used a stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called 

Paint Strokes

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I placed a piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station and found the center point of my paper.
• I pulled out a variety of Distress Oxide ink colours and got them ready to use.
• Next, I masked off one of the Paint Strokes from the stencil and starting at the center point, I inked it up.  I continued masking and inking using all the different strokes until my card front panel was filled. (I didn't record the colours I used, so sorry)
• When I was happy with the look, I splattered using my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.
• I stamped the sentiment with some black Versafine Clair ink and used the die to cut it out.  I glued that onto a black die cut circle.
• I glued my stenciled card front onto a piece of white cardstock and then onto a piece of black and finally, onto a white A2 sized card base.
• I used some foam tape to pop the sentiment over the background.
• I added some bling also from A Colorful Life Designs around the sentiment.

Today, I have the pleasure of being the guest designer at the

The theme is a fun one:

EMBOSS IT

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I cut a piece of white cardstock and beginning at the top of the paper, I blended these Distress Oxide colours together: Fossilized Amber/ Ripe Persimmon/ Picked Raspberry/ Cracked Pistachio/ Peacock Feathers.
• Next, I embossed the panel with a 3D Burlap folder.  Using a sanding block, I gently sanded over the embossing to add a bit more interest and reveal a bit of the white cardstock.
• I laid the Dot Circle  Dot Circle stencil (one of my favs) over the embossed panel and inked with the same colours as mentioned above.
• I die cut out the little paint brushes and glued them together.
• I stamped the sentiment in my Misti and then die cut it out.
• I glued the embossed panel onto a piece of white, then pink cardstock and finally onto an A2 sized card base.
• I glued the little paint brushes onto the card front and used some foam tape to add the sentiment.

Hello and Welcome

It's my turn to host the TLC (Technique Lovers Challenge) over at Splitcoast Stampers.  

For my challenge, I have chosen to do a simple technique using some yarn, a clothespin and a cotton ball. 

 I did create 2 cards just so you could see the difference between using Acrylic Paint and Inks.

Above is Card #1 created using Acrylic Paints

Card #2 below is created using Distress Oxide inks.

Both cards are made using the same technique.

So here's what I did to create

Card #1

• I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock that I wanted to use for my front panel.
• I wrapped some scrap yarn around the panel from top to bottom, overlapping and randomly winding the yarn.  
• Next, I used a clothespin and a cotton ball and dipped it into some acrylic paint that I had squeezed out onto my non-stick craft mat.
• I sponged the paint over the yarn wrapped cardstock as you can see from the picture below.

• I started at the top sponging on the paint, changed the cotton ball for the next colour and continued dabbing over the yarn until my whole panel was covered with paint.  Don't forget to change the cotton ball so you don't end up with a muddy background.
• When I was happy with the paint coverage, I carefully removed the yarn and let the paint dry.
• When the paint was dry, I used a Signa Fine Line marker to trace along the edges of the white area left behind by the yarn, defining the tree trunks.  I added some dashed lines for the bark details.
• I splattered with my white Posca pen, then die cut the sentiment from the panel.
• I glued the painted panel onto a heavy white card base, then pop dot mounted the sentiment back into place, matching it up.

Card #2

• Again, I used the same technique as mentioned above, but this time I used my Distress Oxide inks to see how it would work and to give a different kind of look to the panel. This background doesn't have as much texture that the paint gives, but I was still able to achieve a nice look.
• I rubbed my Distress Oxide ink pads onto my non-stick craft mat, sprayed with water and then dipped my cotton ball into the wet ink to dab over the panel.

Here is what the diluted DOX inks looked like dabbed onto the cardstock.

• I die cut the sentiment from a piece of white cardstock that I covered with some clear packing tape.  (I have mentioned this technique before in previous blog posts.  I like to do this as it gives the sentiment a nice shine and adds to the stability.
• I splattered with my black Posca pen, then glued the inked panel onto a white card base.
• I glued the sentiment on top and then added the black gems.
