Faux Watercolouring

Good Morning.
Meet today's card.
Super simple one and a great way to get more mileage from your embossing folders.

I love the look of watercolouring and this is such a simple technique that helps to achieve that look especially when using my Distress Oxide inks.
I began by inking up my Darice Embossing folder called Henna, sprayed with a generous amount of water and pressed a piece of heavy weight cardstock into the wet ink.  I rubbed gently then removed my paper to reveal the print.  Love how all the colours blended together.
I dried it with my heat gun then placed the piece inside my Misti to stamp the sentiment with black ink.  I clear embossed the sentiment as well, to help make it pop against the colourful bkg.
I mounted it simply on a piece of coloured cardstock and then added one black gem to the center of one of the flowers.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Marbled Leaves

Happy Saturday.
Glad to have a bit of crafting time today after being so super busy with life.

I wanted to try out a technique called 'Misti Marbling' that I first saw done by my friend Lydia at Understand Blue. I just loved the results and how the colours blended together.  There is also a tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers.
What I liked the most about using this technique was that I could add multiple colour layers without contaminating my ink pads with other colours....sometimes when adding colour over colour directly from your ink pads, that happens.
I began by placing the leaves into my Misti, inked then stamped.  Leaving the stamps in place in my Misti, I dabbed on another colour over the first and stamped again.  I repeated that process with one more colour building up 3 colours on each leaf.
* Lydia used a glove to apply her layers of ink but since I didn't have one, I just put a sandwich bag on my hand and used that to dip my finger into the ink and apply it. *

I love the depth of colour achieved by using this fun and super easy technique.
I used a stitched die from MFT to cut the piece out when finished and mounted that onto a dark blue piece of cardstock.  I die cut an oval with the same colour of cardstock, then I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and white heat embossed it.  I pop dot mounted that over the leaves.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you have a great weekend.

A Day at the Beach- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.
Meet today's card.  Time for another one for the
Our theme this month is 'ocean'.

Be sure to check out the inspiring works from our DT's and our Guest this month.

So onto my card details.
First, I took some Post-it Tape and tore it to use as a mask along the edges of my card front.  By tearing the tape, it gave me an irregular edge when removed from around the inked background.  Then, using my Distress Oxide inks, I applied ink using my 'acetate inking' technique.  I started with the blue at the top and then added some brown for the sand at the bottom by rubbing the ink onto a sheet of acetate and spraying with water to apply the ink.
When it was dry, I stamped the shells in the corner and the dots were done by pressing the end of my paintbrush handle onto my ink pad.  Leaving the masks in place, I sponged the edges with more DOX to help complete the scene.
I die-cut the seagulls and glued them over the inky bkg.

I'll be giving this one to my husband for Father's Day.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you will come and play along with us.

Friendship- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
Time for another card for

We have a fun theme this month, choose to make a card from a previous challenge.
Looking back, I chose to use Challenge #12 Tic Tac Toe.  I used the middle line- gems/watercolour/CAS.

I began by placing a piece of watercolour paper into my Misti, inked up the flower from the Penny Black set called Radiant and stamped my first flower in the bottom corner.  I created a mask by stamping on a piece of scrap paper and used it to cover up my first stamped flower so I could stamp additional flowers that appear behind the first image.  Masking is such a great way to use the same image to stamp multiples that appear to be overlapping.
Next, I pulled out my Distress Oxide inks, rubbed them onto my non-stick craft mat and using a wet paintbrush, I picked up the colour and painted in my flowers.  I added a few green splatters over the flowers when dry and stamped the sentiment also from Penny Black and clear embossed it to help make it pop.
I cut away the bottom corner as I felt there was too much white space left there and so the green background paper would show through.
Finally, I glued some black gems to the center of my flowers.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
I hope you get time to play along with us.

Pink Florals

Hello and a Big Welcome.
Do you ever feel like you have lost time and energy because you have been too busy?
That's me the past month so now I'm trying to get back into the groove of things.

Meet today's card.
Yes, I made sure I stepped away from the blue today.  Sometimes I just can't help myself.
Playing with a new stamp from Penny Black called Summer Dream which is just perfect to use with one of my favourite techniques.
I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and some Post-it Tape.  I tore the tape to give me an uneven edge to my finished card and rubbed it in place.  I placed the piece into my Misti and then coloured the flowers with my Tombow markers.  I coloured, sprayed with water, stamped then repeated that process until I was happy with the coverage.
When that was dry, I sponged the edges using some Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink and then splattered on some water to lift some of the colour.  Using the same ink and a piece of drywall tape, I did a bit of stenciling in the background.  Love the depth and interest such a simple detail can add.  I stamped the sentiment from the PB Smitten sentiment set.
I removed the tape masking the edges and simply mounted the piece onto more white cardstock.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Beautiful Day- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
I have little to no time to stamp but did manage to get a card ready for our super theme at

This month we are having an 'Use a Previous Challenge' theme...fun right?!

You can find a list of our previous challenges at the blog on the top tab.
We are welcoming our guest this month, Stef Perry from 'Perry Papercrafts'.
Please come check out the wonderful inspiration by the DT's.

I just got this wonderful flower set from Altenew called Charmed so when I looked through the list of previous challenges, #11 (Focus on Background Stamping) seemed the perfect one to use with this beautiful stamp set.

I began with a watercoloured background that I had made using the Splash Watercolour Technique.
Basically what I did for this technique was to rub some Oxide inks onto a non-stick craft mat, sprayed with a bit of water and slapped my paper into the wet ink.  Love how the colours blend.
Next, I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the flowers with black ink trying to cover in as much as the background as I could.  I left a bit of space to stamp the sentiment in the center then clear embossed it all with clear powder.
I took the same Distress Oxide inks that I had used on my background and watercoloured in the flowers leaving some of them open for the background to still be visible.
When it was dry, I added a few drops of Nuvo Drops to some of the open areas.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Please check out our challenge and come and play with us.

Ocean Collage- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Welcome
Time for another fun theme at the

Our theme this month is Ocean.
We are welcoming our guest this month; Robyn from Waterlily Cards by Robyn.

When I sat down to create my card for the challenge, I thought of the usual water with seagulls, grasses, lighthouses etc. but decided to make a more graphic, collage style card depicting things I would expect to see at the ocean.  I have never seen the ocean IRL but would love to some day.

I began by masking my cardstock with some Post-It tape.  I made sure when I masked that I left enough room on the bottom to stamp my sentiment when I was done.
Then, I began to ink and stamp the background using stamps that I felt worked for a beach card.
First I did some 'Acetate Inking' using a piece of acetate and Distress Oxide inks sprayed with water.  I made sure that was good and dry then placed the piece into my Misti.
I stamped the sun first, the circles and the lines represent the incoming waves, the checked pattern represents the picnic blanket pattern, the splashes are the water of course.
After I was done stamping, I sponged the edges with more of the blue Distress Oxide ink.
I then stamped the Big Wish image from TT with black Memento ink and clear embossed it so it would pop.
I removed all the masked areas and stamped the sentiment and simply mounted it onto a white card front.

Please come and play and thanks so much for the visit today.
