Two Card Designs, One Stencil

Good Morning.
I've got 2 cards to show you today.
They both use the same stencil and same colours, but the background design looks totally different.

So, meet the newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called

So, here's what I did to create my cards.
  • I placed the Chunky Chevrons stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked it up with some Picked Raspberry and some Ripe Persimmon Distress Oxide ink.
  • I wiped the stencil off, flipped it upside down and inked again with the same colours in the same areas.  It made a fun, patterned background.
  • I placed the stenciled panel into my Misti and stamped the flowers and the sentiment.
  • I splattered over the flowers with my black Posca pen.
  • I glued the finished piece onto some white cardstock, then orange and then onto an A2 sized card base.

So now onto CARD #2

  • I cut another piece of white cardstock and placed the Chunky Chevrons stencil onto the paper and inked with some Picked Raspberry and some Ripe Persimmon Distress Oxide ink.
  • I lifted the stencil off but to get a different look then the card above, I flipped the stencil upside down and then tried to match up the chevrons instead of off setting them and inked with the same colours again.
  • I placed the panel into my Misti and stamped the flowers to one side and added the sentiment to the side.
  • I used my black Posca pen to splatter just around the flowers.
  • I glued the dried piece onto some pink cardstock and then onto an A2 sized card base.

Here is the stencil I used for both cards:

Nature's Greetings

Good Morning and Welcome
I hope you holiday preparations are going well.
Today's card was a fun card to create.  I played around with stencils and stamps and layering them.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock, some Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink and 2 stencils.
  • I positioned the Tim Holtz stencil called Countdown over my card panel and rubbed a bit of the ink over that as I wanted it to be faintly visible in the background.
  • I removed that stencil and laid on the Circus Harlequin from A Colorful Life Designs over that and stenciled a bit heavier with the same ink.
  • I removed the stencil and placed the piece into my Misti to stamp the Deer from Lavinia Stamps with some Verafine Clair ink.
  • Next, I stamped the tree with more Versafine Clair, then did a second and third generation stamping behind the first tree.  I splattered with my white Posca pen.
  • I stamped the sentiment from the Taylored Expressions in the top corner and added some black gems under that.
  • I die cut a square frame and then pop dot mounted it over the card panel.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Noel

Good Morning
Thanks to so many of you that replied that you weren't getting sick of seeing all my Christmas cards.
If you don't already know, I have a very busy life with 5 little daycare kiddos.  I try and get ahead of the game and with this extra time off, I thought I should take advantage of it so I'm less rushed when holiday time arrives.

This card was inspired by a very talented lady on FB.  Eileen Godwin does some work for Lavinia Stamps and her cards are very clean and simple.  I do enjoy her inking techniques.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a 4 3/4 x 4 3/4" square piece of cardstock.  I was making a 5x5" card when finished.
  • I used some ScorTape to mask the edges of my card so I would have a crisp, white border when finished.
  • Using some Distress Oxide inks, (Worn Lipstick, Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar, Dried Marigold) and my Stencil Pal (or you could use any flat edge), I rubbed the inks across my card panel with my TH inking Tool, being sure to criss-cross them as I went along.  I also did a circle outline just using a circle die cut, right where I knew I wanted the reindeer to be.
  • Next, I laid the Lavinia Pods stencil over the panel and did some light stenciling in the background just to add some interest.
  • I placed the inky panel into my Misti and stamped the Reindeer also from Lavinia Stamps, the sentiment and trees.
  • I added a bit of shading under the reindeer to help ground him with a gray watercolour pencil.
  • Using my white and black Posca pens, I added splatters to my bkg.
  • I mounted the piece onto a coordinating piece of cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Imagine

Hello and Welcome
Here is a card I made last week using a 'bokeh' style of background for these cute little fairies.
I like the look of bokeh, I think it makes for an interesting background.

So I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and inked it up with some Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and some Tumbled Glass DOX inks.  I blended all the colours together with a makeup blending brush from the Dollar Store.  I dried it a bit, then using the Circle masks from A Colorful Life Designs, I randomly rubbed on some white Color Box ink over the bkg., creating the circles you see.  I splattered with some water to lift the ink and further add interest.
When the piece was dry, I placed it into my Misti and stamped the fairies and the flowers over the inked background then added the sentiment.
I simply mounted it onto a piece of heavy white cardstock and then onto a white card base.
