Collaged Butterfly

Welcome
Meet today's card.
I am loving this new Drippy Butterfly stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.
This one comes with a stencil and a mask and I used both for my card.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock 3 3/4" x 5" for my card front.  I laid the Drippy Butterfly stencil over the paper, and inked it up with some  Broken China Distress Oxide inks.
  • I removed the stencil and placed the mask over the butterfly and lightly inked around the outside edges of my card with some Peacock Feathers DOX ink.
  • Next, leaving the mask in place, I randomly stamped the Friends Script and the Texture around the outer edges with some Blueprint Sketch DOX ink.
  • I place the panel into my Misti and stamped the sentiment with some black ink.
  • I added some white splatters using my white Posca pen.
  • Lastly, I glued it onto a heavy white card base and added 3 black gems under the sentiment.

Here is the stencil I used:

Imagine

Good Morning
Meet todays card.
I created it inspired by a 'rainbow' challenge.
I tried to think outside of the box totally for this as I didn't want your traditional kind of rainbow.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a piece of white cardstock to the size I wanted for the front panel.  I placed that onto my Make Art Station and positioned the Watercolor Stripes stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over my panel.
  • I picked out some Distress Oxide inks that I thought would make good rainbow colours.  (Peacock Feathers, Barn Red, Cracked Pistachio, Carved Pumpkin, Seedless Preserves, Squeezed Lemonade)
  • Using each of the colours mentioned above, I inked up my panel with the stencil going in one directions.  I removed the stencil, flipped it going in the other direction and inked up the panel again going from light to dark.  It made a fun rainbow plaid look.
  • I placed the stenciled piece into my Misti and stamped the sentiment.
  • Next, I took a piece of cardstock and inked it up with some of the same colours diluted with water.
  • I got out this wonderful butterfly die from Tim Holtz called Detailed Butterflies.  It is a 2 step die; one is the back and the other is the cutaway.  I used the solid one and die cut it with some white, then die cut the detailed piece from the watercoloured cardstock.
  • I put some foam tape on the stenciled panel then onto a heavy white card base. I added the butterfly on top of that securing just the body area and leaving the wings to pop up.

Sweet Cheeks

Good Morning
Meet today's card.
A simple one for some special friends that just welcomed a new baby boy.  Such an exciting time.

So here's what I did to create my card.
I began with a piece of white cardstock, then I chose 2 Copic markers in colours that would compliment each other and drew my background plaid.  It is really pretty easy to do and you can create any type of plaid you want.  If you feel like you don't have a steady enough hand, use a ruler to help draw the lines.  I just went for it trying to space out my lines as best I could.

When I was happy with the plaid bkg. I placed the panel into my Misti and stamped the sentiment...it's such a fun one from a set I got at a garage sale.
On another piece of cardstock, I stamped the buggie, coloured it using the same colours as the plaid then fussy cut it out so I could pop dot it over the sentiment.
I mounted it all onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Greetings

Good Morning.
Just when you think you have it all under control, you find out that you need a few more cards.
I don't know where the time went!?
Time for a quick and easy one.

I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock, placed it into my Misti and stamped the plaid with some Versafine ink.  Next, I die-cut the deer head, pressed it onto my Versamark ink pad and silver embossed it.  I decided I wanted to add a simple frame and this hemstitch edging worked great for that..  I glued the deer head over the plaid bkg., then added the stamped sentiment with pop dots.  I added that to a heavy white card base.
Pretty simply right?

Thanks so much for taking a look.

Get Cozy

Good Morning
Since I already had my Plaid stamp out on my desk from yesterday's card, I decided to use it again.
I am just loving the plaids this year.

So, I placed a piece of red cardstock into my Misti, positioned my Plaid stamp over the paper, inked it up with some black Versafine ink and stamped.  I repeated that a few times to get a nice dark, crisp bkg.
When the ink was dry, I rubbed it all with my anti-static bag and stamped this large snowflake with Versamark in the corner and white heat embossed it.  I took some diluted white acrylic paint and splattered the whole background to add to the snowy look.
I die-cut the sentiment and glued it over the plaid bkg. and added a red button to the center of the snowflake.
I added it all to a heavy white card base.

Simple Plaid

Hello
I feel like December is just flying by!!
Happy to have most of my holiday cards mailed out but a few more to go.
I am loving all the plaid I am seeing out in the stores and wanted to create a card using some.

This is a really simple one that can be whiped up in a hurry.  By die-cutting from a patterned background, you have a cut out to make another card....I haven't gotten that far yet though lol.

So onto my simple card details.
I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and placed it into my Misti.  I positioned the Plaid background stamp over my paper, inked with some Black Versafine and stamped.  I repeated that process to get a rich, deep impression.  I dried the ink then using the Deer die from STAMPlorations, I cut it out in my Cuttlebug.  I glued the plaid onto another piece of white cardstock and set aside.
Next, I took a narrow paper strip and stamped the sentiment, then pop dot mounted that over the deer cut out.  I glued it all onto a red piece of cardstock then onto a heavy white card base.
I added 2 red buttons for interest and to help pull out the colour from the red in the bkg.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Wrap Around Christmas

Welcome

A few month ago, I made a wrap around card.  You can see it here.
I just loved making it and thought I would make another one for Christmas.

Here's what I did.
I began with a standard card base cut 4 1/4" wide by 11" long.   I measured and marked the center point of my paper, then placed the stamp into my Misti, positioning it over the center mark and stamped the check background.  I then masked the edges and stamped the trees over the checks using some black ink.  I love the look of the silhouette trees.
Next, I stamped the sentiment with some more black ink then scored and folded my card.
I glued on two thin strips of black cardstock along the edges of my stamped area and added 3 little black gems under the sentiment.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
