Dinnerplate Dahlias

I really had fun making today's card using a newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called:

Dinnerplate Dahlias 

I paired it up with an older stencil called 

Wild Rings 

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I began by inking the background on a piece of white cardstock using the Wild Rings stencil and some Broken China Distress Oxide ink.
• After inking the whole front of the paper, I removed that stencil and placed the Dinnerplate Dahlias stencil down and inked with some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink.
• I added some white splatters and some dots using my white Posca pen.
• I let that dry while I die cut out the sentiment with another piece of white cardstock and when the panel was dry, I did cut the word shadow right from the center of my stenciled card front.
• I glued the panel onto a piece of white cardstock and then onto a piece of blue and then finally onto an A2 sized card base.
• I used some foam tape to pop the sentiment back into place over the card front panel.

Today's card is done with this beautiful Dahlia layering stencil from Altenew.

So many possibilities and looks can be achieved with this stencil.

I went for a very bold colour.

So here's what I did to create my card.

• I cut a piece of white cardstock and laid Stencil A onto my paper.  I inked that up with some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks and then over that some Blueprint Sketch, blending them together in some areas.
• I removed that stencil and positioned Stencil B into place.  I inked that up with some Peeled Paint then some Rustic Wilderness just to add a hint of a shadow.
• I removed the stencils and splattered with my white Posca pen.
• While that dried, I die cut the frame using this wonky stitched die.
• I glued the stenciled panel onto an A2 card base and popped the frame over that.
• I stamped and die cut the sentiment and pop dotted that over the bkg. and added 2 silver gems just under the sentiment.

A Simple Palette

A simple card today although it looks more complicated then it actually is.

Altenew for the win with this great layering stencil called Dahlia Stencil A and B.

So here's what I did to create my card.

• I began by cutting a white cardstock panel and got out some Weathered Wood Distress Oxide ink.  I positioned Stencil A over my cardstock on my Stencil Mat and inked it up. 
• When I was happy with the coverage of ink, I removed Stencil A and positioned Stencil B into place.  Stencil B adds a lot of the flower details.  I inked that up with some Black Soot Distress Oxide ink.
• I removed that stencil and splattered with my white Posca pen.
• After the stenciled panel was dry, I die cut the sentiment outline along the bottom, then cut the sentiment from some white cardstock.
• I glued the stenciled panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then onto a white card base.
• I glued the die cut sentiment onto the outline die cut and pop dotted it back into place over the front panel.

Sunny Days

Hope you are well during these unprecedented times
Being creative certainly has helped me feel happy.  Having some extra time to play has been good.
I had this stencil sitting out on my desk after using it last week so decided to try a totally different colour palette to create a sunny, summery looking card.

So onto my card details.
I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock.  I'm using the Altenew Dahlia stencil which is a 2 part stencil meaning that you add colour over Stencil A, remove it and position Stencil B over to add another colour and the details.
I laid Stencil A down first and rubbed over it with some Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink.  When I was happy with the coverage, I removed that stencil and positioned Stencil B over then panel and inked with some Mowed Lawn DI using a blending sponge.
I placed the piece into my Misti, then stamped the sentiment with some Versafine Clair black ink then clear heat embossed it.
I mounted the panel onto a piece of matching yellow, then onto a heavy white card base.

Flowering Dahlia

Stencils....they are such a great tool to use to create.  You can use them in many different ways to create.  The most popular way to use them is to rub over them with a stencil or a blending tool but I wanted to try and give the stencilled image a different look, so here's what I did.

I am using a 2 part stencil which means there are 2 separate stencils.  You start with the first, remove it, then overlay the second to add the details.  

I began with the Altenew Dahlia stencil A.  To give it a unique look, I pressed a baby wipe onto my DOX ink pad, then pressed that through the opening of my stencil.  I love the grainy look it gives.

When I was happy with the first inking, I removed Stencil A and overlaid Stencil B to add the details using some Black Soot DOX ink.

I splattered the whole piece with some diluted black acrylic paint and set it aside.

Using some black cardstock, I die cut the Follow Your Heart die from Penny Black 3 times and glued them together.  I glued that over my stencilled background and added some black gems.
I simply added it to a heavy white card base.
