Happy Saturday!

Meet today's card.  I'm playing with a new stamp from Penny Black called Escape.

PB has just released some wonderful landscape stamps and I was eager to get a chance to play around with them to see what I could come up with.

Sometimes, I feel a bit intimidated by 'scene' stamps, but this one was actually very easy to do once I pulled out my Brushos and a paintbrush.

So onto my card details.

I began by placing this stamp inside my Misti.  A stamp positioner is essential for this technique to work.  Next, I sprinkled some Brushos into my palette and diluted it with some water.  Since Brushos are so highly pigmented with colour, a little goes a long way.

I picked up some of the diluted colour with my wet paintbrush and painted it directly onto my stamp and pressed onto my paper.  I repeated that process until I was happy with the coverage and all of the stamp areas had been painted in.

To fill in the open areas left after I was done stamping, I used my wet paintbrush and just pulled the colour along the lines of where it had been stamped.  Not only did it blur the sharper lines from stamping a bit, but it also made the card look more hand painted.  

I was pleased with the results when done.

When it was all dry, I placed it back into my Misti and stamped the sentiment form the PB set that is called Destination Sentiment.  

I glued it onto a sand coloured piece of cardstock, then a blue piece, then onto my plain white card base.

Happy Birthday Bonnie- CAS Watercolour Challenge

What a fun month we have had at the 

CAS Watercolour Challenge

We are celebrating another wonderful friend's birthday.

Happy Birthday to Bonnie

Our theme is Bouquet of Flowers; add one to your watercoloured card.

This month we also welcome our talented guest Leslie from Running With Scissors.

So onto my card details.

I began with a piece of plastic kitchen wrap (leaving all the folds and wrinkled areas on it) and rubbed some Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers directly over that.

I gave it a spritz of water to blend, then pressed my paper into the wet ink.  It left behind such a pretty design on my paper and was so quick and easy to do.

Next, using the new Stitched Circle die from PB, I cut a circle in the centre of my card front.  I mounted that over my inked background and added a few die-cut wildflowers.

I stamped the sentiment then glued it onto a piece of light green, then onto a plain white card base.

Pretty Pastels- The Flower Challenge

Good morning.

Time for another card for 

The Flower Challenge

This month, we are also happy to be giving away a lovely stamp set from Uniko.

We are also welcoming our Guest Designer Michelle Lupton.

We are playing with pretty pastels this month which has been a lot of fun.

I started to create my card by rubbing some DOX ink (colours listed below) onto a piece of plastic wrap, sprayed with water and pressed my heavy white cardstock into the wet ink.  The wrinkled nature of the plastic wrap leaves such wonderful textures and designs to a card base and it super easy to do too!

Next, I placed the dry piece into my Misti and stamped the flower with black Memento ink.  I stamped the flower head again onto a piece of white cardstock as well and fussy cut it out.

Using the same colours of DOX inks I used in the background inking, I watercoloured in the flower and then splattered with some white acrylic paint to add interest.

I stamped some extra interest on the bkg using a variety of stamps (listed below), then stamped this great sentiment from Penny Black.  I pop dotted the flower head over the one stamped onto the card front and then mounted the piece onto some soft pink then onto a plain white card base.

Meet today's card.

I just love this sentiment as it really rings true with me.  I am so grateful to have so many special friends and also to have so many online friends that inspire me every day with their creativity and kindness.  It truly is a blessing!

As most of you already know, I love using blues.  I just can't seem to stop....to me they evoke happiness and calm in a busy life.  So, I hope you will humour me with another blue card.

Onto my card details.

I have been playing with some of my stencils, trying to find some unique ways of inking them up to get a bit of a different look.  I am loving this technique as it gives a more mottled, blurred look to the finished image and better yet, it's easy to create.

I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and secured my stencil over that.

(You will want to wear some rubber gloves for the next step as your hands will get a bit messy)

I took a baby wipe and dropped DOX Re-inkers onto it then pressed it onto my stencil, moving it around to get the colour distributed and blended.  I find if your colour is not transferring to the cardstock, put a piece of acetate over the wet baby wipe and press with that.  Be patient and go over it filling in the spaces.

When I was happy with the coverage, I removed the stencil and let it dry.

I then placed it into my Misti and stamped this great sentiment and clear heat embossed it to help make it pop over the inky background.

I simply mounted it onto a plain white card base.
