Abstract Snowflake

Meet today's card.

I thought having this time off was a good chance to get started on creating some Christmas cards.  

But I'm just having a bit of trouble getting into that mind set since Spring has just arrived and we finally have some warm temperatures.

As I have mentioned in some of my previous posts, being off work has given me time to play more with my supplies.  I've been making some backgrounds with my Geli Plate.  When using a Gel Plate, you need to brayer off some of the excess paint to give a thin layer.  I always like to keep some extra pieces of cardstock nearby to roll off my brayer and this bkg. is one of those.  It is messy but still interesting with all the different colours of paint brayered onto it and I thought it would make a good back drop for my snowflake.

So, I placed the painted background into my Misti, inked up the snowflake from the Colorado Stamp Company with some Versamark ink, stamped and white heat embossed.  I repositioned my background in my Misti and stamped it again just moving my panel over a bit, with some blue Distress ink.  It created a shadow effect that I love.

As the white embossing will create a resist, I used a dry cloth to wipe away the excess DI over the snowflake.  

I stamped the sentiment using my Misti with some black ink and clear heat embossed it.

Lastly, I splattered using my white paint.

Good Morning.

It's a beautiful, sunny day here in Ontario.  

Time for a colourful card inspired by Eileen Godwin, a talented card maker on FB.

I have been watching her videos and I enjoy what she creates.  

So onto my card.

I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock.  Using my acrylic block, I rubbed some Distress ink onto it, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper starting along the edges and working my way into the center.  I used lots of colours, overlapping them until my panel was all inked up.

I then laid the Rays stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over the background and applied some Memento red ink over that.  I laid the butterfly stencil to one side and inked it up with black Archival ink.  Using a white gel pen, I outlined the butterfly to make it pop.  I did some stamping along the edges and then splattered using a white gel pen.

I stamped the sentiment with Versamark, white heat embossed it and pop dotted it over my bkg.

Finally, I rubbed some white acrylic paint along the edges with my finger.

Hello and Welcome

I hope you are all doing well during these tough times.  I think we are all looking forward to going back to the way it was.

Here is a card I made using my Gel Plate.  I am really enjoying having the time to play around with it.  Using my stencils with it, I can create some beautiful backgrounds.

So here is what I did to create my card.

I began by rolling some green acrylic paint over my plate using my brayer.  I placed the Fine Vines stencil over that and pulled a print onto some paper.  I brayered on some blue and took the print for my card panel. It reminded me of a piece of textured cloth, really lovely looking.

I cut down the piece and placed it into my Misti.  I rubbed the inked background with my Anti-static bag then stamped the flowers with black and clear heat embossed them.
Next, I found the center of the panel and creased it using my ScorPal.  I grabbed a white card base and glued the scored, inked piece around the white card base, matching up the fold lines.
I stamped the sentiment to one side and then added two thin black strips of cardstock to the edges of the inked panel to add a border effect.
Lastly, I added the black gems around the sentiment for interest.
