Wildflower Garden

Welcome
Here is today's card I created after watching a Friday Night Live with Vicki Boutin.
For any of you that don't know Vicki, she is a Canadian Mixed Media artist that has a line of products with American Crafts.
Every Friday night, she does a live on FB and YouTube, all free!
One of my favourite products she has is her Art Crayons.  That's what I used on this card.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a piece of white cardstock for my card front.  I got out my Vicki Boutin Art Crayons and rubbed some purple and blue onto a piece of acetate.  I picked up the crayon with a stencil brush and rubbed it onto my cardstock, blending the colours together, fading out towards the edges of the panel.
  • These crayons are water soluble so when I was happy with the inking, I took the Messy Grid stencil from ACLD and using a wet stencil brush, I rubbed over it, lifting some of the ink and revealing the white cardstock underneath.
  • Using some Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink, I stamped some script randomly over the bkg to add more interest, then splattered with my white and black Posca pen.  **I get a lot of questions about the splatters using my Posca pen.  When I want to add splatters, I press the tip of the pen onto my work surface to get the ink flowing a little bit, then I hold the pen over my project and tap it using a metal ruler.**
  • As that dried, I looked through my stash of die cuts to find some flowers that would work on my card front.  I like to die cut in advance using leftover scraps and keep them in a folder for future use.  I found these and thought they worked great.
  • When the panel was dry, I placed it into my Misti and rubbed it with my anti-static bag.  I stamped the sentiment from Impression Obsession using some black Versafine Clair, then clear heat embossed it.
  • I glued the flowers along the bottom of the card front panel, then onto a heavy white card base.

Here is the stencil I used in the background

Livin' Life

Welcome
Meet today's card.
Super simple one using Vicki Boutin's Art Crayons, inspired again by one of her Friday Night Lives.

Before I add the details of my card, I want to send out a
BIG THANKS
to all of you that have decided to follow me.  I am so grateful!!

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut my card front from a piece of heavy white cardstock.  Using the Vicki Boutin Warm set of Art Crayons and a piece of acetate, I began adding my circles.  I rubbed the pink Art Crayon first directly onto the acetate in a circular shape, used a wet paint brush to dilute it and then pressed it onto my cardstock.
  • I repeated that process over a few times with the pink at the top and bottom, then used some orange and then yellow to create the circles.
  • I dried the panel, then rubbed some of the pink Art Crayon onto my non-stick craft mat, diluted it with water and used that for stamping the script in the background of the circles.
  • I used the leftover ink to add some splatters then added more black ones with my Posca pen.
  • While that all dried, I die-cut the sentiment from Frantic Stamper 3 times...2 from white cardstock and one black one for the top.  I glued those all together and set aside.
  • Looking at my panel, I realized it needed something more, so I doodled in the lines to define the circle shape.
  • I glued the inky panel onto a piece of pink cardstock, then onto a white card base.
  • Finally, I glued the sentiment over the circles and added the little heart.

Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look.

Heirloom Roses

Good Morning
I hope you are all well in these unusual times.  I do find myself at loose ends some days, but I am grateful to have a hobby that I enjoy.
Here is a card I made while playing with Vicki Boutin's Art Crayons. They are highly pigmented and are easy to dilute with water.

So here's what I did to create my card.
I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and placed it into my Misti.  I took a pink VB Art Crayon and scribbled it onto my acrylic sheet.  Using a wet paint brush, I diluted the crayon then painted the pink onto my roses and stamped.  I repeated that process with some red and then some green until the whole image was painted.
I used the diluted crayon still left on my palette to splatter the background to add interest.
When it was dry, I stamped the sentiment using my Misti again.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there!

Happy Birthday Cheers!

Welcome
Meet today's card.
Just having some fun playing around with some 'new to me' Art Crayons from Vicki Boutin.
Vicki is a bubbly, happy person and I just love her philosophy and attitude for creating; just try it out....it's just a piece of paper and you never know what you will be able to come up with.
That's what I did for my card.

I rubbed an Art Crayon onto my piece of acetate, sprayed with water and moved the ink a bit with a paint brush to disperse it, then pressed it onto my paper.  Next, I placed a some drywall tape randomly over the background, then rubbed over it with a baby wipe.  The ink gets transferred from one area to another for an interesting look.  I also used one of her script stencils and did the same with that.
When the piece was dry, I placed it into my Misti, stamped the silhouette and the sentiment and clear embossed it to help it pop against the colourful bkg.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
