Embossed Stenciling

Good Morning.

It's my turn to host the TLC Challenge (Technique Lovers) over at Splitcoast Stampers.

I'm calling this technique

Embossed Stenciling

It's a fun and easy technique to do and adds such great texture and interest to your card front.

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I began by dry embossing a piece of white cardstock with a Houndstooth embossing folder.  
• I placed the embossed piece onto my Make Art Station and placed the Snowflake Net stencil over that.  
• I rubbed some Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink over the snowflakes and then added some Broken China DOX ink to the rest of the open area. 
• Next, I stamped the little skater onto a piece of scrap white cardstock, coloured it with my Copic markers and die cut it into a circle.  I rubbed some of the Broken China DOX ink that was still on my brush, along the edges of the circle.
• I stamped the sentiment with some Uncharted Mariner and cut it into a strip.
• I glued the card front panel onto a piece of blue cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card base.
• I used some foam tape to add the little skater image to one side and the sentiment to the other side.
• Finally, I added some silver gems to finish my card off.

Hello and Welcome

Meet today's card.

Again, I am using a previously painted Gel Plate print.

So here's what I did to create my card.

• I looked through my Gel Plate prints and roll off sheets that I keep in a folder just for this reason.  This one wasn't pretty, so I decided to try and make it into something.
• I placed the piece into this lovely embossing folder called Scandinavian Christmas that I got as a gift and ran it through my machine.
• Using a sanding block, I sanded off the raised areas to reveal the design. Be sure to sand carefully over the cardstock as too much pressure may tear the paper.
• I brushed away the residue left from the sanding and glued the panel onto a heavy white card base.
• I splattered the panel using my white Posca pen to add a snowy effect.
• I stamped the sentiment and cut it out, then used some foam tape to mount it into the middle of my card front.
• I added 3 green gems under the sentiment.

Winter Moment

Meet today's card.

It is still winter here where I live, the snow is melting a bit and Spring is trying to get here.  

I just couldn't resist playing with this great snowflake stamp again from the Colorado Craft Company.

So here is what I did to create my card.

I began by inking up the inside of my Numbers Embossing folder with some Versamark ink, ran it through my Cuttlebug and white heat embossed. 

I rubbed some Distress Oxide inks onto my non-stick craft mat, sprayed with water and slapped my paper into the wet ink to create my blue background.  When I was happy with the inking, I dried it with my heat gun.

Next, I placed the panel into my Misti and painted the snowflake with some Brushos and stamped.

I repeated that process until the snowflake was totally visible over the embossed bkg.

I had some diluted Brushos left over, so I used that to add the splatters.

I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink and white heat embossed it onto the black cardstock.  I added it to the side of my card panel.

Time for another card for 

The Flower Challenge

This month we are being sponsored by Altenew and you still have time to play along for the chance to win a lovely stamp set from them. 

So onto my card.

I began with a white piece of heavy white cardstock and rubbed on some Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide inks, blending the colours together until I was happy with the coverage.  

**My camera refused to show purple, so sorry if your think the colours look different from the ones I have listed!**  

I dried the inks with my heat tool then rubbed over it with an anti-static bag to help with the embossing.

I placed the piece inside my Misti then stamped the Sketchy Florals with some Versamark ink and embossed with some white powder.

Using a Versamark pen, I coloured in the flowers and added some clear embossing powder and heat set those.  You can't see from the photo the amount of shine they have, but it's really lovely.

I splattered the whole piece with water to lift the ink.  As you can see from my card, the ink was only lifted in the bkg and not over the flowers where they had been embossed.

I die cut the sentiment 3 times and glued them together so they would be raised up over my card front then glued them over the flowers.

I simply mounted it onto a white card base.

Beautiful Moments- The Flower Challenge

Morning.

I have to say that I am having a blast playing with the new Distress Oxide inks.  They layer so nicely and I honestly just love to play around and see what I can come up with.

It's also time for another challenge at 

The Flower Challenge.

Easy right?

So onto the card I created for the challenge.

Some of you may have seen this technique I came up with called Swipe Your Credit card. 

That was my starting point for this card.

So I rubbed my Oxide ink pad directly onto my non-stick craft sheet, sprayed with a bit of water and dipped in my credit card edge, then I pulled the ink down my card front.  I started with the yellow first, moved onto the green on the outside edge then the red in the center.

* I use a heavy weight cardstock that I get from a local store.  I find the ink will sit on the surface 

instead of soaking into the paper and is easier to pull over the surface * 

Next, I rubbed the surface with a non-stick pad, stamped the wildflowers with Versamark ink then white heat embossed.  I stamped the sentiment with black Memento and clear heat embossed to help it pop against the colourful bkg.

I randomly stamped the graffiti to add more interest to my background.

To finish off my card, I used the edge of my credit card dipped in white paint to make the little detail lines. I repeated that process with the black ink as well.
