Note Card and a Short Pictorial

Hello and Welcome
I was playing with some more of the HP Photo Paper I got from a friend and my Distress Oxide inks and remembered this time to take pictures of the process so you could give it a try.
It is easy and fun to do.  As you apply inks, you are left with a chalky looking piece until you wipe it all down with a baby wipe and the magic appears.  The colours become brighter and more vibrant.
From what I have read, this only works if you use the Distress Oxide inks because of their unique properties.

So here we go....hope you enjoy will give it a try.

STEP #1

Here is how I began.
On the left hand side you will see the piece of photo paper I used.
On the right is a piece of acetate that I inked directly with my Blueprint Sketch DOX ink and gave it a spray of water.

STEP #2

I took the inked piece of acetate and pressed it directly onto my photo paper.

STEP #3

I repeated that process again but this time adding some Peacock Feathers DOX ink.

STEP #4

I kept building the layers of colours by adding some Lucky Clover and Bundled Sage DOX.

STEP #5

When it was dry, I stamped some Graffiti down the left hand side using more Blueprint Sketch DOX.
You can still see how chalky the piece looks.

STEP #6

Ok, here comes the fun part.
Take a baby wipe and wipe off the whole piece and watch the colours emerge.

I cut the piece down to use for my card as I decided to make a note sized card.  I'll keep the other half for another time.
To complete my card, I die-cut the Olive Branch and glued that onto the front and stamped the sentiment using my Misti and some Memento ink.

I hope you enjoyed this short pictorial and thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Springtime Green

Meet today's card.
I am craving Spring as I know most of you are too.  I need some sunshine on my face, green grass under my feet.
That's how I was feeling when I created this card.  A very clean, simple fast card.  Surprised that I got it made since I am feeling unmotivated and uninspired these days.  Hope that changes soon.

So onto my card.
Like I have mention in past posts, a friend of mine gave me some photo papers and I am still playing around with it trying to see how they react using my Distress Oxide inks.
I also must mention that when I was at the Dollarama store the other day, I picked up a couple of the makeup blending brushes I am seeing everyone using these days.  They were only $3. each so I figured it wasn't a big investment to try them out.  I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised using them for blending.  They aren't the top of the line, but work great for what I have to do.

I took this Simple Pods stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and laid it onto some photo paper.
I rubbed some Pistachio DOX ink over the top then added a hint of Tumbled Glass to the edges using one of the makeup applicator brushes, then set it aside to let it dry for a minute.
Next, I wiped the whole piece with a baby wipe to reveal this beautiful colour.
The baby wipe takes away the chalkiness of the inks and leave the colour pigment behind.

When dry, I stamped these simple flower from an old SU set that I just picked up at a garage sale.
The sentiment from Penny Black was stamped using my Misti.
I mounted it on a plain white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Feather- Photo Paper and Baby Wipes

Hello and Welcome.
Trying out something new today using my Distress Oxide inks.

A friend of mine gave me a stack of HP photo paper that she couldn't use.  I wanted to try and use it for my card and after watching a few videos on YouTube I was off to try this fun and simple technique.

So like I said, I began with a piece of photo paper.  I inked up a sheet of acetate with my Distress Oxide inks, sprayed with water and pressed onto the paper.  You are left with a chalky looking inking.  I let that dry for a moment, then placed the piece inside my Misti.  These feathers are one of my favs from Technique Junkies so I inked it up with more DOX and stamped it over the bkg.
Now for the magic part......I took a baby wipe and wiped over the surface of the whole card.  Amazing, it just all wiped away the chalky look and revealed wonderfully bright colour.
So simple yet effective.
I then stamped the sentiment and done.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Birthday Wishes- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning
Time for another card for
The Flower Challenge.

Our theme this month is 'A Special Occasion'.

I created a birthday card for the theme.  I am always in need of cards to celebrate birthdays.
I was playing around with some Canon photo paper and applied some Ranger Alcohol inks to the paper using a piece of plastic wrap.  By scrunching up the plastic wrap, dabbing it into the ink and then onto the paper, you are left with an interesting textured looking background.

I wanted to compare the photo paper to using Yupo.  They both have a shiny surface but with the photo paper, I found the ink didn't move after applied even if I dropped on some Blending Solution or some Rubbing Alcohol.  By using the plastic wrap, I was able to get a mottled look instead of blobs of colour.

I die-cut the scalloped edge frame from Your Next Stamp and the flowers from Poppystamp.
I glued the alcohol inked bkg behind the frame and then added the flowers.  I stamped the sentiment then pop dotted the framed piece over that.

Thanks for coming by and taking a look.
