Dancing in the Rain

 

Welcome.

Got a fun filled card for you today featuring the new for June stencil called What a Splash from 

A Colorful Life Designs.

I paired it up with a previous release called to Ink Blot create this fun card.

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I placed a piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station and positioned the What a Splash stencil over that.  I inked it up with some Salty Ocean and a hint of Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink.
• I removed the stencil and replaced it with the Ink Blot stencil and inked that up with some Peacock Feathers DOX ink.  Those colours worked so well together.
• I splattered with my white Posca pen to help add more of the look of rain falling.
• When it was dry, I placed it into my Misti and stamped the silhouette and sentiment.
• I glued the finished panel onto a piece of blue cardstock and then onto an A2 sized card base.
• Lastly, I added 3 black gems around the sentiment.

Welcome

Meet today's card.

A very simple one featuring this stencil called Big Fat Drops from ACLD and this fun silhouette image from Technique Junkies.  

I thought it was a fitting card since we have had sooooo much rain here where I live and my little kiddos just love going out and splashing and dancing in the rain.

So here's what I did to create my card.

• I began by creating this simple background using my Gel Plate.  I pressed my Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide pad directly onto my Gel plate near the top.  Leaving some spaced between, I pressed my Peacock Feathers DOX ink right underneath that then I brayered the colours together creating sort of an ombre effect.
• Next, I laid the Big Fat Drops stencil over the Gel Plate and using the end of a paint brush handle, I gently pushed against the stencil to get good contact. 
• I lifted off the stencil and rubbed a piece of white cardstock over the plate and lifted the print.  It had a fun, watery look to it which is what I wanted.
• I splattered with some diluted Mermaid Lagoon ink to help with the feel of the raindrops.
• When it was all dry, I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the image and the sentiment.
• I glued it onto a piece of blue cardstock, then black to tie in with the black silhouette images, then onto a white card base.

Time for another card for the 

CAS Watercolour Challenge.

This month we are using one of my favourite techniques as our challenge:

I have used this technique often and find it a fun and easy way to create colourful background.

So onto my card.

I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock I pick up from a local store.

I rubbed some Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and some Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide inks onto my non-stick craft mat, sprayed with water and slapped my paper into the wet ink, drying between colours.  I tried to concentrate the colour to the bottom of my paper leaving more white open space at the top.

When that was dry, I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the image and the fun sentiment with black Memento ink then clear embossed them to help make them pop.

I simply mounted the finished piece onto a white card.

Jumping for Joy

Good Morning.

Simple, happy card today using a technique I showed a few weeks ago that I called 

Do a Double Take.  

Basically, it is stenciling over a stencil.

I began by masking my card front using Painter's Tape then using some Peeled Paint Distress ink and stenciled the TCW Chicken Wire as the bkg.  I then took some drywall tape and stenciled over that using Peacock Feather.

Using my Misti, I stamped this wonderful image then this fun sentiment.

I clear heat embossed both to help make the black pop.

Lastly, I splattered some diluted Distress ink to look like rain and rubbed more ink along the card edges.

Good Morning.

Today, I have the pleasure of hosting the TLC (Technique Lovers Challenge) over at Splitcoast Stampers.

Today, I am challenging you to  

Add a Pinch of Salt

I just won some new stamps from Technique Junkies and wanted to play with them.

I began by taking my regular Distress ink pads and just rubbing them directly onto my heavy white cardstock being sure to overlap the colours a bit.
(you can achieve a more dramatic effect by using glossy cs which I didn't have)

<<Any water-based ink will work for this challenge and the results are more visible and vibrant the heavier you apply the ink to your paper.>>

Next, I sprinkled on some coarse sea salt and sprayed with some water.  The salt absorbed the ink and left behind a wonderful effect that reminded me of rain.  You can also try regular table salt for a more subtle effect.

Be sure and let your paper with the salt on it dry completely before removing the salt.  

Helpful Hint: If the salt is a bit stuck, rub over it with the flat side of a credit card to remove it.

 Now you are ready to stamp your images.

I placed the piece inside my Misti, inked with black Archival ink and stamped.
