Snowy Days

I have 2 cards for you today.
I've been playing along with the Dare to Get Dirty Challenges at Splitcoast Stampers.  Every year they have a huge challenge with many great prizes to be won.  I'm also trying to get ahead of the game with making Christmas cards so it all works.

So onto my card details.

• I began by creating the main popped up panel.  I cut down an inked piece I had in my stash that was inked using my Distress Oxide inks. (I think I used some Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio but I'm not totally sure as it was done a long time ago)
• While that dried, I die-cut the little village from Your Next Stamp, placed it into my Misti and stamped the sentiment with some black Versafine Clair and clear heat embossed it. 
• Before I glued the die cut over the inked bkg., I splattered the blue sky with some white and black using my Posca pens.
• I wanted the little panel to have some kind of border, so I die cut a piece of white using the Diagonal Stitched die from MFT and glued it all together.  
• Using another sheet of white cardstock, I placed it into my Misti and stamped the Houndstooth from Hero Arts using some Peacock Feathers Distress ink.  I thought it made for a nice matching background.
• I glued the stamped panel onto a heavy white card base, then pop dotted the small panel over that.

Here's what I did to create this card.

• I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock, my Gel Plate, brayer and acrylic paint.
• I brayered some purple and blue acrylic paints over my Gel Plate in a loose application so there would be some white areas.  I laid my cardstock panel on top of the paint and rubbed firmly, getting a good print.  I lifted it off the plate and set aside to dry. *I just used some acrylic paints that I picked up at the Dollar Tree.  They are more watery and help give the more distressed look to the background.
• When dry, I placed the snowflake die from Simon Says over the painted panel and cut it out in my Cuttlebug.  I also cut 3 more of the snowflakes on some more plain white cardstock and glued them all together, making a thick snowflake.
• I placed the painted piece into my Misti and stamped the sentiment from MFT with Versafine Clair Noir ink and clear heat embossed it.
• Next, I glued the painted panel that had the snowflake cut out of it onto a piece of purple cardstock and glued the snowflake back into the die cut area, fitting it in perfectly.  
• I added a purple gem to the center of the snowflake and then glued it all onto a heavy white card base.

Abstract Poinsettia

Good Morning

Meet today's card.

After seeing some flowers created using Alcohol inks, I decided to try it out and make an abstract poinsettia.  It was fun to do and by adding the silver, it really helped to elevate the look.

So here's what I did to create my card.

• I began with a piece of Yupo paper.  For those of you that are unfamiliar with Yupo, it is a synthetic, plastic paper that is used when working with AI.  The inks will move so easily on the slippery surface.
• I picked out my red AI inks and dropped them in the center of my card panel.  Using my little blower and some Rubbing Alcohol, I blew the inks outwards to the edges of my card, repeating that process and turning the paper until the panel was covered.  *My blower is called the World's Smallest Blower and is meant to clean keyboards etc.  It looks like a small leaf blower and plugs in.  I found it on Amazon and have found it easier to use then the bulb style blowers when working with AI inks*
• When I was happy with the coverage, I dropped some black AI into the center and added a few drops of Rubbing Alcohol.  That created what I thought looked like a flower center.
• Some areas of the panel felt sticky from the areas where the AI was thicker, so I rubbed some silver foil over those areas to add some sparkle.
• I die-cut the center of the flower using a circle die, then pop dotted it back into place to add interest.
• I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the sentiment.
• I mounted the panel onto a heavy white card base

Meet today's card. 
Very fun and easy background to create using some acrylic paint and my brayer.

So here are my card details.

• I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and brayered some acrylic paint onto it, turning the paper as I brayered to create the layers of paint you can see above.  Start with one colour then continue until you are happy with the inking. HINT:  If the inking looks too dark for your taste, brayer over it with white paint.
• While the paint dried, I stamped the tree line using my Misti.  I inked it up with some Versafine Clair black, then went back and coloured the trees with my Tombow markers to add some colour.
• I placed the matching die over the stamped trees and then die-cut them out.
• I stamped the sentiment in my Misti, then fussy cut it out for more interest.
• I cut down the brayered painted piece to fit the front of my card, then glued the trees over the background.  I pop dotted the sentiment over the white area of the tree line.
• I mounted the panel onto a heavy white card base.

Simple Christmas

Hello and Welcome.

I hope you enjoyed a lovely Christmas yesterday.  It comes and goes so quickly.

We celebrated with a big turkey dinner, our 2 boys and friends.  It was really special.

This was a quick and simple card as I needed just a few more to send out.

So here's what I did.

I began by placing my heavy white cardstock into my Misti.  I inked up the Polka Dot Grunge with some Bundled Sage Distress ink and stamped onto my card front.  I have found this stamp to be so useful for creating a quick and simple background.

Next, I stamped the trees, extending them just past the circle for interest.  

I stamped the sentiment, then added the doodled line to pull it all together and the 3 small buttons under the sentiment.

I mounted it onto a piece of co-ordinating green cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.

Here are 2 more card I created using that same bkg stamp.

These Tim Holtz stamps fit perfectly inside the circle.

Deck the Halls

Good Morning

Well the big day is almost here.

I've been so busy with all the preparations, that I haven't had time to post, so I am taking a moment to get this done now.

This was a super simple one, I like the monochromatic look it has and I think the red is so festive looking.

I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock, placed it into my Misti and stamped the script background.  It is a large stamp that has a variety of scripts on it.  I stamped the Outline Snowflakes right over the script, then using the Oval Hemstitch die, I die-cut it in the center of my card front.

I stamped the sentiment inside the oval cut then added some red pop dots.

I glued it onto a heavy white card base.  

That's it....simple.
