Holly Sprigs

Good Morning
Today's card features a new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
Do you ever think about fussy cutting out your stenciled images?  That's what I did for my card.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with 2 pieces of white cardstock and placed one onto my Make Art Station.  I placed the Layered Holly Sprig stencil over my cardstock and inked up the leaves with some Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink.
  • Next, I rubbed some Rustic Wilderness DOX ink along the edges to give the leaves more interest.
  • I lifted that part of the stencil up and moved it to the leaf details that I inked up with some Lucky Clover DOX ink.
  • I took the 2nd piece of cardstock and repeated that whole above process again, leaving me with 2 stenciled panels.
  • I splattered them with my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • I cut another piece of white cardstock and dry embossed it with a folder which would become my card front base.
  • I die cut the Burlap with some red cardstock then glued that onto the embossed card front.
  • I fussy cut out the Holly leaves and used some foam tape to layer them together.
  • I glued the holly over the Burlap die cut and then added a piece of twine and some red gems.
  • I glued a pre-printed sentiment along the bottom and then glued it all onto an A2 sized card base.

Snowflake Magic

Welcome
I'm excited to introduce you to this beautiful new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
I paired it up with an older released stencil called Jewel Snowflake to make this dramatic looking card using some non- traditional colours.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed a square piece of cardstock onto my Make Art Station and positioned the Jewel Snowflake over that, centering it up on the panel.  I inked over the whole thing with some Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide ink.
  • Leaving the snowflake in place, I put the Big Ornament stencil right over it and inked that up with some Villainous Potion DOX ink.  It made for a most dramatic look.
  • While that dried, I got out a piece of vellum and stamped the sentiment with some Versafine Clair black ink and clear heat embossed it carefully so the vellum wouldn't wrinkle.
  • I wrapped the sentiment strip around the stenciled card front and attached it at the back.
  • I glued the panel onto a 4 1/4" square card base.
  • Finally, I added 3 navy gems around the sentiment.

Ho Ho Ho

Welcome
Meet the new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
This stencil set is a 4 part layering stencil.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I decided to stencil over some patterned paper so I started to look through my stash until I found this green with the yellow dots on it.
  • I laid the patterned paper onto my Waffle Flower Stencil Mat and placed stencil #1 from the Layered Ho Ho Ho stencil over it.  I inked that up, removed that stencil and continued to add colour using the 3 other layers to create the text on the background.  The colours I used were:  Lumberjack Plaid, Rustic Wilderness, Lucky Clover and some Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink. **HELPFUL HINTI used my Stencil Mat because it has an edge to perfectly line up the layers.  You could also use your Misti for this so the layers match up.
  • Next, I die cut the sentiment in white 3 times and glued them together to give some more stability and build it up a bit.  I also die cut the cute little hats that came with the set with some white and red and glued them together.
  • I looked at the stenciled card front and decided to give it more of a 'marquee' look, so I added some white dots over the letters using my white Posca pen. It really gave it a more festive look.
  • I glued the card front onto a piece of red cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I glued the sentiment onto the middle and added the 2 little Santa hats.

Christmas Star

Good Morning.
Todays card features a new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
The finished panel reminds me of a cozy quilt.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed a piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station and positioned the Starry Top stencil over my paper.  I inked it up with some Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink over the whole panel, then lifted it to wipe off the ink.
  • I turned the stencil upside down and repositioned it to fill in the white areas and to match up the pattern, then inked it up again with some Lumberjack Plaid DOX ink.
  • I removed the stencil and splattered with my white Posca pen.
  • While that dried, I stamped the sentiment using the same above mentioned ink, clear heat embossed it  and die cut it out.
  • I die cut another circle from some green cardstock and glued the sentiment onto that.
  • The card front was dry so I glued it onto a piece of red cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to pop up the sentiment circle into the center of the panel.

Snowflake Greetings

Welcome
Today's card was simple and fun.
Another card to add to my holiday collection of cards to send.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I got out a piece of bubble wrap and inked it up with some Lumberjack Plaid and some Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink.  I gave it a slight spray of water and pressed it well onto my white cardstock.  It left a very fun impression.
  • While that dried, I stamped and clear embossed the sentiment and cut it out.
  • Next, I stamped the snowflake over the bubble wrap impression with more of the Lumberjack Plaid DOX ink and splattered with my white Posca pen.
  • I glued the panel onto a piece of red cardstock, then some green and then onto a white A2 card base.
  • To finish my card off, I added a black gem to the center of my snowflake and used some foam tape to pop the sentiment up under it.

Thanks so much for taking a look.

Cover Die Eclipse

Welcome
This week, it's my turn to host the TLC Challenge (Technique Lovers) over at Splitcoast Stampers.
The technique we will be trying out this week is called

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • To do this technique, you will need a cover plate die.  I used the Simple Plaid cover plate die from Tim Holtz.   NOTE:  There are variations of this technique using stamping with you Misti and lining up the stamped images. If you don't have any cover dies, you could also use multiple small shape dies to cut the second panel and put them in place
  • I placed a piece of white cardstock onto my Waffle Flower Stencil Mat and inked up the Cozy Knit stencil from A Colorful Life Designs with some Rustic Wilderness and some Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink.
  • I placed a second piece of white cardstock onto my Stencil Mat and repeated the same process as mentioned above, using the same stencil and inks.
  • Using the Simple Plaid Cover Plate die, I die cut one of the panel.
  • I glued the die cut cover panel over the first panel I stenciled, matching up the pattern. It gave a fun, texture to the piece.
  • While that dried, I die cut the sentiment from some white cardstock and glued it onto the matching shadow die cut in red.
  • I glued the stenciled panel onto a piece of red cardstock and then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to add the sentiment to the center of the card front.
  • Finally, I added 5 silver gems around the sentiment.

Layered Gingerbread Men

Welcome
Do seeing gingerbread men remind you of Christmas?
Well this newly released 2 part stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
is just perfect for creating that look.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a piece of white cardstock, placed it onto my Make Art Station and then put stencil #1 from the Layered Gingerbread Men  (gingerbread men bodies) over my paper.
  • I inked using some Vintage Photo and some Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide ink to add colour.  I found that using 2 shades of the same colour gave the background more interest and detail.
  • I removed that stencil and placed stencil #2 (details) into place and inked it up with some Black Soot DOX ink.
  • I wanted to add some red details, so next I got out the Simple Grid stencil, masked off my card front panel and then added the little squares with some Lumberjack Plaid DOX ink between all the rows of the gingerbread men.
  • I rubbed the edges with some more of the Vintage Photo DOX and then glued the panel onto a piece of kraft cardstock and then onto a red A2 sized card base.
  • I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of red cardstock with some Versamark ink and then white heat embossed it.  I used some foam tape to pop that over the card front.
